Sometimes the people who are thousands of miles away from you, can make you feel better than the people right beside you -unknown
There's something beautiful about a long-distance friendship. The fact that you can grow so much closer to a person without them even being within a reasonable vicinity from you. The fact that you can find yourself talking to this person on the phone regularly or texting them constantly (even though you actually hate the idea of continuously texting someone). The fact that this person becomes someone you tell everything to, all your problems and all your secrets, even though you're miles and miles away.
I think long-distance friendships symbolize the truest of friendships. They are ones you have to work on, ones that you can't give up on or else they'd simply fade away. They are the friendships that prove how much you care about that individual, that result in skipping the party just to FaceTime your best friend. They are friendships that I think will last a lifetime.
So I'd like to say a personal thank you to my best friend. Thank you for being my friend for eight plus years, and for the six of them when I was 1,435.1 miles away from you (and currently still am). Thank you for simply putting in the effort to keep our friendship alive. I know it couldn't have been easy. Thank you for still picking up my calls whenever I need you. For listening to my ugly crying voice over the phone and constantly asking me to repeat myself when you can't understand me. Thank you for talking these things through with me, for giving me the best advice even though you know it may not be what I want to hear. Thank you for cheering me up after my meltdowns, for bringing up past memories to make me laugh and telling me your most recent embarrassing stories. Also, thank you for the weird stuff, for the planning to watch the same Netflix show at the same time as me so we can talk about it (praying we're not the only two people that do this), for sending me awkward photos of your cats to enjoy throughout the day, for bringing me with you everywhere you go, even if mute is required. Thank you for that.
Thank you for the three hour talks, the much needed FaceTime calls, and the everyday good morning texts. Though you may not be here with me, you've proven to me to be one of the best friends I've ever had. It's crazy to think that my moving away brought us closer, but for that, it is something I will not regret. God blessed me when he gave me a friend like you, and I will not take that for-granted. So just thank you, for always being there despite the miles between us. Maybe one day it will be blocks instead, but for now I will continue to appreciate our beautiful long-distance friendship and never let it go.
