Fathers only have one day that's all about them, besides their birthdays. Mothers do too.
As this day, Father's Day, approaches we think about all the things we could get them or do for them to make up for everything they've done for us. Going to his favorite restaurant, buying him those MLB tickets he has mentioned, or anything else to make him understand how much we appreciate all he does.
There are so many things to thank your dads for, and without further ado, here are some things I would like to thank you for...
Thank you for...
1. Helping mom out when she was drained from me crying all night.
2. Staying through it all.
3. Loving me unconditionally.
4. Buying me my first bicycle (with training wheels of course).
5. Making sure I always had my helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads on.
6. Finally teaching me that I don't need training wheels.
7. Telling me I'm beautiful when I didn't always think so.
8. Waking me up in the morning when mom wanted to sleep in.
9. Letting me run and jump into your arms even when you were sore from work.
10. Spinning me round even though you always got more dizzy than me.
11. Teaching me how to love myself.
12. Helping me with homework.
13. Picking me up to reach things when I was too little.
14. Yelling at me when I did something wrong; otherwise I wouldn't have learned.
15. Bringing me to all of my practices.
16. Waking up early on Saturdays and/or Sundays for my games.
17. Making sure I never gave up on myself.
18. Teaching me that just because someone may not like me doesn't mean it's the end of the world.
19. Teaching me that it's okay to make mistakes as long as I learn from them.
20. Being a constant father figure throughout my 20 years.
21. Telling me "it will all be alright" to make me feel better, even if it may not have been right away.
22. Being my first ever king.
23. As well as my first love.
24. Showing me that not all men are harmful even though sometimes I think so.
25. Giving me someone to look up to just as much as Mom.
26. Never bailing on me, unless of course it was necessary.
27. Making it to my dance recitals.
28. Still coming to every game even when you and mom separated.
29. Reminding me that mom and you will always be the best of friends.
30. Showing me that love can disintegrate but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
31. Scaring off all of my boyfriends when you knew they weren't right for me.
32. Preparing me for the real world since day one.
33. Understanding that my teenage attitude would eventually go away so you dealt with it.
34. Helping mom raise my sister and I to be two strong, independent women.
35. Showing your feelings even though "men don't cry".
36. Telling me that the dark isn't a scary place.
37. Putting on a night light because I didn't believe you.
38. Telling me that you would save me from anything under the bed.
39. Or in the closet.
40. Holding my hand when I was scared to do something alone.
41. Holding my hand because one day it will be out of reach.
42. Being upset that I'm growing up, but understanding that it's time for me to be a grown up.
43. Giving me your sweatshirt or jacket when I was freezing waiting for the bus.
45. Reminding me that one F isn't the end of the world.
46. Always telling me to recognize real and to keep a small circle.
47. Telling me to be kind to everyone even though I may not like everyone.
48. Reminding me that although lying may be an option it's never a good option.
49. Buying me an innumerable amount of things even if I wouldn't use it next week.
50. Helping me with rent because you understand that I'm a poor college student.
51. Pushing me to turn my dreams into plans because you know I will achieve greatness.
52. Sharing your love for sports with me... I feel cool understanding football.
53. Never leaving my side.
54. Being my best friend.
55. Being the first shoulder to cry on when I break down for no reason.
56. Showing me that love is real, and that loving someone unconditionally forever is one of the greatest things in this life.
Thank you for everything and so, so much more. I would be no where without you and I can't come up with enough thank yous to make up for everything you've done for me. From when I was screaming in my crib to being miles away in my own apartment, you've never seemed to let me down. Thank you, Dad. This one's for you.
