To my best friend, my cousin Matt:

Thank you. Without you, I wouldn't be handling everything I've been going through right now. I have been so lost, stressed and even a little depressed lately. You have been by my side, supporting me and making me feel like I'm not alone. I know I have a huge support system from our family by my side, and I am so grateful and thankful for them. I wanted to say thank you to you though, because you also have become my best friend along the way.

You are my PIC, aka Partner in Crime. Ever since I started at Goldey last year and you lived not far from me, we have hung out so many times. You were there for me during all my hard moments. You let me vent about my bad roommate situation in the beginning of the year and wouldn't mind picking me up whenever I needed a break. You gave me advice on how to deal with certain problems and obstacles I faced throughout my entire freshman year.

Thank you for letting me cry when I needed to, even though you hate when I do. Thank you for hanging out with me and introducing me to your friends. Thank you for sometimes doing activities or going places even when you didn't want to. Thank you for putting a smile on my face and making me laugh when all I would want to do is cry. Thank you for jamming in the car to music with me and not letting me be the only person dancing. Thank you for listening to me go on a ramble and talk for a half hour straight. You always claim you stop listening, but I know you still are, most of the time.

I want to thank you and my uncle for letting me crash at your place when I needed it. Thank you both for letting me use your internet because the school's wouldn't ever work. Thank you for letting me get warm in the winter at your place because there wasn't any heat in my dorm. I wouldn't have survived my freshman year without you two.

Some people find it a little strange that my cousin is my best friend, but we don't. In fact, I think it's pretty awesome that we're related and best friends. We'll always be a part of each others lives and see each other all the time. We share the same amazing family. I can talk to you about anything because you are family. Having my best friend be my cousin is the best thing I could ever ask for.

I appreciate everything that you do for me, just like I appreciate the rest of our family for being there for me during rough times and making sure to put a smile on my face. But, I wanted to especially thank you. Without you as my best friend, I don't know who I would talk crazy with and where I would be emotionally right now. You make me feel like I will always have options and figure something else out to make me happy.

I know that wherever I am, if I need someone to talk too or I need to get away, you'll be there. Thank you for being my best friend. And thank you for letting me be yours.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
