Thank You To My Boy Little
Cheyenne Wong

If you follow my articles, you’ll recall that I recently wrote one on my little Hannah. She has been the greatest addition to my entire Greek life experience, and I couldn’t be happier to be her big. But I can’t forget another amazing addition that I was blessed with last year: my boy little.

Growing up with a younger brother gave me a sense of what it was like to be a role model to a younger boy. When I got became a part of a sorority I never thought about having a boy little, and the idea became almost pointless to me. Immediately after getting our girl littles, so many girls in my house leaped at the idea of giving them a twin. It only seemed natural that I join the bandwagon and give my little a boy twin.

During Hallo-weekend, a time every WSU student sees as Christmas in October, I went to the frats with friends expecting just a fun, wholesome night. When I got there I met a friend of a friend who I thought was one of the funniest, sweetest boys. He reminded me of a younger version of my Grandpa, an old soul with a fun personality. Instantly the idea sparked and I asked him to be my little, to which he replied, "yes."

Since Halloween, having a boy little has just added to the positive and amazing experience I’ve received with going Greek. My little has turned into another built-in best friend of mine, a great person to confide in when I need to, and a memorable person I’ll take away from my college experience. Here’s why exactly I’m thankful for my boy little:

For always giving me something to laugh about.

Part of a friendship is accepting the weird quirks and habits that someone contains and getting used to them. That’s exactly what happened with you. I learned all of your funny antics and habits and accepted it as you being yourself and being comfortable enough to let me know your true self. For all the times I’ve teased you for being a goody good or anything else, you’ve dished it back to me in the funniest, most respectful manner. Whenever you have something to complain about, you always make it lighthearted and still find a way to make me laugh.

For being such a wise soul.

Sometimes I forget that you’re not the same age as me and I think you’re older. You’ve given me a lot of advice already and listening to your opinion on an assortment of things has made me realize what an open mind you have. The fact that I’ve come to you for advice when you’re two years younger than me shows you how much I take your words to heart, because I normally wouldn’t do such a thing.

For always being down for whatever I want to do.

Whether it’s a last-minute family night, or randomly getting food, I’m so thankful you always say yes, and you’re always excited to join me. I don’t think there’s ever been a time that you’ve said no to me which makes going out with you and doing fun stuff that much more enjoyable.

For always being there when I need you most.

There have been times that I’ve just needed to vent to someone who won’t judge me, scold me, or even critique me, and you’ve been a perfect candidate for that position. You’ve also coincidently texted me randomly at a time where I needed someone to talk to and you were there with perfect timing. And for the times I texted you “SOS” and you called right away just to hear me say “I just wanted to say hi,” thank you. It’s great knowing that if I were ever in an actual emergency, you’d jump at my rescue.

Lastly, for loving me unconditionally.

There have been countless times that I have been a poor example for you and I’ve made the most embarrassing, dumbest decisions. Rather than being disappointed in me or telling me what I did was wrong, you always have an “oh well” attitude, and we move on from it. You’ve never acted disappointed in me, when really you should, and you’re the easiest going person I’ve met. Another one of my favorite qualities about you.

For only knowing each other for a year we’ve already created a wonderful big/little relationship with more memories to come. This year when you get your little and turn me into an old grandma, we’ll create more embarrassing stories, and memorable moments for years to come. I love you more than I love One Direction, and we know that means a lot.

Love,

Biggie

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
