50 Thank-Yous For The Knucklehead Siblings Who've Earned Each And Ever One

They may drive me crazy, but they are my peeps.

When I was in school, I grew up with friends who only had one sibling, or they were an only child. Sometimes I felt jealous because they never had to share anything or take care of anyone. They could make plans and not worry about who would watch their younger siblings. Instead, I was the oldest child, and I had three, younger rascals to look after.

It wasn't until after high school that I began to really appreciate my siblings. They were getting older and creating their own lives. They didn't need me as much anymore, but I needed them.

I know I don't say it enough, but thank you for teaching me how to be a big sister. It's not something you learn overnight. It takes years to learn how to be the oldest, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it.

My crazy siblings, this is a long overdue thank you list just for you:

1. Thank you for teaching how to be the ultimate referee over the remote control. I'm definitely way better than any football or MMA referee.

The countless arguments over who gets to hold the remote control and who gets to watch what has turned me into the ultimate super referee.

2. Thank you for letting me practice my mom skills on you. I worked out all of the kinks, and now I'm ready for my own kids.

Thanks to you, I learned how to change numerous diapers the right away.

3. Thank you for helping me understand that no matter how many times I tell you no, you will always ignore me and do what you want.

I finally understand how frustrating it is to say, 'no, you can't do that' and be completely ignored.

4. Thank you for the wonderful carpool karaoke sessions every day. Who needs a radio, when I have you all?

There is no point in using the radio because you will always be the loudest in the car.

5. Thank you for creating your own special language that only you all understand, and I will never be part of. (Seriously, let me in on it!)

I'm onto you. I know you're talking about me when you do that.

6. Thank you for teaching how to divide all things and especially food into four equal parts. Sharing means caring right?

Sharing is important when you're the oldest. You must share all things (most importantly food) with your siblings.

7. Thank you for teaching me how to be responsible.

I've learned how to take care of others rather than just taking care of myself.

8. Thank you for being brutally honest at times. I wouldn't want to hear it from anyone else.

No one tells the ugly truth better than your siblings. Thank you for always breaking it to me not so nicely.

9. Thank you for teaching me that you will not always like me but will always love me.

You may not always like it when I tell you no. You may not always like it when I can't be the friend and have to be the adult. You may not always like me but will always love me.

10. Thank you for always distracting me when I tried to study and do homework.

I secretly liked the distractions because I really didn't want to be studying or doing homework.

11. Thank you for never cleaning your rooms and leaving your clothes all over the floor. You've taught me how to be the best maid ever.

If it wasn't for your messy rooms, I would have never learned how to clean or practice picking up after kids.

12. Thank you for never cleaning up after yourselves after creating your masterpieces in the kitchen. How'd you know that I love doing the dishes so much?

I love how the kitchen looks as if an explosion went off in the sink whenever you cook.

13. Thank you for teaching me how to be on time. I appreciate the numerous texts throughout the day reminding me to pick you up from school and not to be late.

If I had a dollar for every text you sent reminding me to pick you up from school, I'd be rich.

14. Thank you for being skilled mind readers because you know always know when I'm upset, and I don't have to say a word.

You know me better than anyone else, and you know exactly how to cheer me up.

15. Thank you for constantly telling me how awful of a driver I am.

thank you for telling me every day and every chance you get. You say I'm an awful driver, but you continue to ask for rides.

16. Thank you for dancing around like idiots in public.

Your spontaneous outbursts in public are just a routine by now. I'm used to being embarrassed everywhere we go.

17. Thank you for always timing your fights to start right when we get in the car and I'm driving.

The number of times I've threatened to pull the car over if you didn't stop fighting is too many to count.

18. Thank you for buying me lunch, birthday gifts and Christmas gifts with your hard-earned money.

I can tell you're growing up when you offer to pay or buy me something with your own money.

19. Thank you for the handmade cards you give me on my birthday each year.

I've saved every handmade card and every picture you drew for me in school.

20. Thank you for keeping me in line. You are the first to tell me when I'm wrong.

Sometimes the younger ones are the wiser ones. Thank you for being the voice of reason many times.

21. That for teaching me that it is more than OK to act like a fool sometimes.

You're carefree and silliness is what I love the most about you.

22. Thank you for keeping me entertained on long road trips.

A road trip would not be complete without at least five bathroom stops, multiple fights, singing and asking 'are we there yet' several times.

23. Thank you for telling my friends all of my embarrassing nicknames.

I love how comfortable you are with my friends and how you feel the need to tell them everything.

24. Thank you for being my personal bodyguards and kicking butt.

Thank you for being protective. No one has my back like you do.

25. Thank you for threatening any guy who messes with me and creating elaborate plans on how to get revenge. (Seriously, my people will come after you.)

I love your crazy imaginations and ideas.

26. Thank you for always having my back.

I can count on you anytime and anywhere.

27. Thank you for always being happy for me when I something exciting happens.

Sometimes I think you're more excited than me...

28. Thank you for taking my money.

I love how you always 'forget' your wallet.

29. Thank you for riding with me to the store because I don't like going by myself.

You make the best co-pilots in the world (when you're not fighting or telling me I'm a bad driver).

30. Thank you for the backseat driving.

I love how you think you no more than I do about driving. It just makes me laugh.

31. Thank you for calling me every night when I was away at school.

I looked forward to the nightly phone calls.

32. Thank you for sending me funny videos and countless Snapchats while I was in class.

You made trudging through school bearable.

33. Thank you for always making fun of me.

I'm used to being made fun of now. The jokes are too many to count.

34. Thank you for helping me see that I never needed an older sibling because I was placed as your big sister for a reason.

I always wished for an older sibling, but it wasn't meant to be. I was chosen to be the oldest, so I could have you.

35. Thank you for helping me come to terms with the fact that I can't cook.

My lack of cooking skills will forever be one of the top jokes in the house.

36. Thank you for always talking me into eating ice cream.

I love how you can always talk me into eating ice cream at any time of the day.

37. Thank you for getting on my phone and taking pictures of yourselves. The close-up nose pictures are the best.

The selfies you take with my phone are priceless. I'm saving those.

38. Thank you for prank calling me just for fun. You know I have Caller-ID, right? I know it's you.

The prank calls never get old. It's always the same joke each time.

39. Thank you for being extremely obnoxious when you came to see me at work. It was just wonderful seeing you.

I appreciate how you strived to embarrass me the most while I was working.

40. Thank you for going shopping with me. I know it is incredibly painful for you to go.

I love how you always talk me into getting something for you while I'm shopping for me.

41. Thank you for being the funniest people I know. No one makes me laugh like you all do.

I'm thankful for your humor because, without you, life would be boring.

42. Thank you for teaching me how to be patient.

I learned one of the most important qualities from you. It's something you can't have until you've learned to take care of others you are responsible for.

43. Thank you for being smart since day one. Even as babies you outsmarted me every time.

It amazed how you managed to disappear when you were little. I turned around for a split second, and you were gone.

44. Thank you for making my friends jealous and wish they had younger siblings like you. (You all were really cute kids.)

Everyone wanted you as their younger siblings. (Too bad for them!)

45. Thank you for telling me when you didn't like my friends because you were always right about them. You could spot the bad ones a mile away.

Thank you for looking out for me. If you didn't like someone, I knew something was wrong.

46. Thank you for creating amazing photo collages filled with embarrassing pictures of me each year for my birthday.

The yearly birthday collages are expected by now.

47. Thank you for listening to me vent about school and work.

Thank you for listening and pretending to be interested.

48. Thank you for always having a joke prepared for every situation.

When situations get too intense, I can count on you to make me laugh.

49. Thank you for always being down for taking crazy photos together.

Trips wouldn't be complete without taking endless pictures.

50. Thank you for being more than just my siblings. You are my best friends.

I'm thankful every day that I was blessed with you.

No matter how many times you embarrass me or pull pranks on me, I'll always love you.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
