A Thank You To My Amazing Boyfriend

I don't tell you enough how much you mean to me. You go above and beyond the normal boyfriend support. We met in high school and have been dating for almost five years now. We have had our ups and downs just like every other couple but we always come out stronger because of it. I am writing this to show the world how amazing you are to me and how much I love you. You are my boyfriend, my confidant, my best friend.

First I would like to tell you that I do notice the little things you do for me. Whether you give me your pillow to sleep or you give me one of your shirts to wear to bed every night, it makes all the difference when I'm falling asleep. If I ask you to do something, no matter what it is, you do it for me. It could be as simple as "Can you get me a glass of water?" but also as complicated as "Can you get Puff (my cat) for me?", he likes to run away when he's trying to be caught. Yet every time you come back into the room with a cup of water for me, my cat, and a small cup of water for my cat because you know I am a crazy cat lady and you're okay with that.

You take care of me when I'm sick. Even if I tell you I'm fine you can tell when I'm not actually fine. Putting a blanket on me and tucking me in, you lay me down on the couch and put on the TV (because I love Netflix when I'm sick). You make me soup and give me medicine. You know exactly how I like my tea, with a lot of sugar, and you get it right every time. Even though I fight you on taking medicine and I insist I'm fine you know what I really need and you always do it for me.

One of my favorite memories was when my high school waited until a week before my senior prom to tell us you weren't allowed to go with me because you were 21. I was devastated and I wasn't going to go but you convinced me to go without you. Even though you couldn't come with me you still dressed up to take pictures with me before hand and during the promenade when I walked with my friend Angela you came walking right up to us on the stage and put your hand out for both of us to walk down and everyone cheered. I was so shy but so happy that night. Thank you for always being there for me.

I love our little dates we go on. Since we're in school right now and we don't have much money you have to get pretty creative when planning a date night. Usually that involves just getting food Togo from the cafeteria and bringing it to your room where we can watch a movie or a new TV show we're both really into. Later we might take a walk down to the park and I'll play on the swings while you run around climbing things, because were both children at heart.

I love you so much and I wouldn't want to spend my days watching the same tv shows over and over again, while quoting the whole thing, with anyone else. I love our little quirks and I love our sayings that no one else understands. I love that we use the "I love you" hand sign whenever we leave each other, and that we have a secret password that only we really understand. You can hear me when I mumble and no one else understands, you know what I want when I'm in pain and just making noises, and you know exactly how I like my bath's drawn (with a bath bomb of course).

You do all of this and more for me and I do the same for you. I love you more than I could ever hope to express and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us. <3

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
