It was my first ever semester at college and while it was WAYYYY stressful, it was WAYYYY fun too. I made new friends that I can so very easily call family, I learned new lessons that I plan to carry with me through out life, and memories I will hold dear to my heart. Here is a thank you to the people who made all of it happen...

Dear Eliya,

MY OTHER HALF. I have called others that before in my life, but I am not lying when I say that you were the one I actually mean that to, you and I are so similar that it scares me. We are also different in many ways but that's okay, it helps us both in the long run. Thank you for being the person you are, and for being a part of my life. At this point I literally have no clue what I would do without you in my life, in the short time we have known each other, it feels like it has been years. Cheers to what we have shared and what is to come to us.

Dear Shane,

I cannot express how grateful I am that I know you, I say this because you have a way of living life that makes others around you feel great. The vibe you give off is a great one, and I hope you never lose it. You also have a way with words (must be that inner writer) that actually make sense to me and that is hard to do so with that, I say kudos to you.

Dear Ethan,

Where do I even begin... Do I begin with how great you are and how that makes me feel? Do I begin with how many laughs you and I have shared? Or do I begin with all of those and just kinda see where it takes me? I personally like the third option. Dear Ethan, thanks for, well, everything. Thank you for showing me that good guys do exist in this world. Thanks for making me laugh when all I wanted to do was break down and cry. Thank you for all the things I failed to mention here... Thank you for simply being you and the good person you are. Thanks for being the first college relationship of mine. :)

Dear Ari,

Thank you for simply being the person you are. You are a bright young girl with much potential and it was very much a pleasure getting to know you this semester. Thank you for keeping your sister and I updated on certain things so we keep our sanity... or at least pretend to...

Dear Taya,

Thank you for being an awesome roommate. You were the first person I ever shared a room with and it could not have been a better experience. It helped me grow as a person to live through it, but rooming with you made it all easier. Oh! And thank you for bringing your cat. ;)

Dear other friends,

Yes, you guys are important too! Thanks for making life easier to deal with with all the fun times we shared and the de stressful times we had. Without you I would not have survived this semester, that much I can promise.

Dear professors,

Thank you for teaching me all that you taught me this semester. It was stressful but I am sure that it was stressful for you too, and knowing you always came to class excited and smiling made it worth it for me too.

Thank you to everyone who I've met and befriended, you made this semester worth it. I look forward to more semesters at Western, it's too much fun to not go back to!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

784
Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
