Thank You, Dad

Just a few "thank you's" that are well overdue.

Thank You, Dad
Aly Taylor

There is no comparison to the relationship that a little girl has with her father. I always have been and always will be my dad’s biggest fan. However, I feel like there are quite a few times when his love, compassion, effort, and sacrifices go, not unnoticed, but without a “thank you”. I know this isn't anywhere near all the thanks a father deserves but these are just a few:

1. Thank you for knowing me better than myself.

My dad has always had a knack for knowing what I’m thinking before I even do. I don’t have to say a single word and my dad will know if I need to talk or just a hug to know he’s there. Sometimes it bit preteen/teenage me in the butt because if I ever tried to lie, he could see right through the façade.

2. Thank you for never judging me.

I cannot think of an instance when I genuinely felt like my dad was judging me. I have always been able to openly talk to my dad about what’s going on in my life and he has never failed to give me an objective but yet, an understanding viewpoint.

3. Thank you for loving me when I didn’t love myself.

Like a lot of other people at this age, I found it very difficult to figure out who I was and be okay with that. There are times when I was constantly comparing myself to others and my dad always knew how to turn that around. When I felt broken, insecure, unworthy, whatever it may have been, he made me feel loved, confident, and beautiful. He loved me when I couldn’t love myself and inevitably, helped me to do just that.

4. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made for me.

Although I do not know exactly all of the sacrifices you have made for me and our small little family, it doesn’t mean I don’t know they were made. You are an exceptional father and person and I couldn’t thank you enough for that.

5. Thank you for being there since day one.

Thank you for being my number one fan. I know no matter how chaotic, stressful, or wrong things in my life may go, I know you have my back. I never doubt the future or get nervous about what's going to happen because I know you're right behind me cheering me on.

Words can't even begin to explain the love, admiration, and appreciation I have for you, Dad. But I hope this helps explain it at least a little bit. I'll always be your little girl.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

11 Things We Learned From Brooke Davis

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
