A Thank You Letter: To My Lord And Savior
Erica Simpson

Dear Lord,

Why is it that we, your children, get so caught up in life that we don't stop to thank you for your greatness? For our blessings? For our trials? You are the one that rotates this world and keeps our feet planted to the ground. You are the one that keeps the sun and moon at a perfect distance, making Earth the ideal place for habitation. For this, I thank you.

I thank you for lighting my pathway in the darkness. For keeping me on the straight and narrow when all I wanted to do is drift into the mainstream. Thank you for making a home in the deepest parts of my heart and softening them. For teaching me how to love your people as you love us and to be patient when things don't seem to pan out just right. Thank you for showing me how to love myself as the beautiful creature you created me to be.

Thank you for allowing me to endure life's toughest trials. For choosing me to be your soldier. For allowing me to have a great testimony. Thank you for staying by my side when there was no one else beside me. Thank you for guarding me and protecting me when my own thoughts were no longer a safe haven. Thank you for being my first best friend. For listening to my deepest and darkest secrets.

Thank you for forgiving me when I do you wrong. For granting me your endless mercy when I deserve nothing.

Finally, thank you for the simplicities in life. For waking me in the morning and lying me down to rest at night. Thank you for rising the sun in the morning and giving me another breath. For providing me with food, shelter, and family.

Thank you for giving me a calling and a purpose.

With love,

Your Grateful Child

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
