A Thank You Letter To My New Friend, Gym

We've met a few times in the past, but this past year we've became much closer. Sometimes I swear you've been there for me when no one else has. I just wanted to take the time to say, thank you...

Over the past year you have helped me grow. As cliched as it may sound, you have helped me start a journey toward a better life. I say this because since we've met, great things have happened. I've been healthier, stronger, and most importantly happier. My energy is always high and I have a better outlook on things. You inspire me to push myself. You encourage me to try new things that I never thought I was capable of. I now have the mindset that I can accomplish anything. Not only physically, but mentally.

Even though we only spend an hour or so together a day, you leave an impression on me. When I walk away from your presence, I have a smile on my face because I feel better. Not many things in life have the same affect on me.

You've helped me tremendously with my self confidence. I've always struggled with liking my body. I thought I'd never be skinny enough, strong enough, or even good enough. I hated how I looked in almost all my clothes. I was constantly self conscious. But you showed me that it's mind over matter. You've helped me to take all those negative thoughts and turn them into energy to fuel myself.

Now, since we've met, I've started to love the skin I'm in. Every curve and every muscle is something I am proud of. Sure, there are still a lot of parts of me I need to work, on but I know you will help me with all of that. You and I are a good team.

I am also grateful for the friends you have introduced me to. I can now say I have "workout buddies." I know that I can count on them to come with me to you. I have met countless hardworking individuals that share the same drive I do, and to me... that is such a wonderful thing.

Before you I wasn't my true self. With you, I am getting better everyday. I love who you're helping me become, and I couldn't thank you enough for that.

Your new best friend for life,

Mia

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
