"She's my person. If I murdered someone, she's the person I would call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor. SHE is my person."
First off, I want to start out by saying thank you. Thank you for always being there. Thank you for putting up with me when some stupid, silly boy broke my heart. Thank you for being my backbone. Thank you for your constant humor, even if sometimes at my own expense. Thank you for becoming part of my family and welcoming me to become a part of yours. Thank you for being there when something happen to my family. Thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you for being you.
It started when we went to the same day care and despite you telling stories about how "mean" I was to you, I choose to believe we were friends. Especially when that one bitch picked on you for wearing dresses (too bad she was a 7 foot giant). You always tell the stories of me making you sharpen my pencils or getting your hair cut. (I refuse to believe they are true). While we may have drifted apart in elementary school, middle school brought us back together and I couldn't be more grateful for that.
You decided to go out of your comfort zone in seventh grade and play volleyball and this is where we became friends once again. We eventually started doing everything together. There was hardly a weekend I would spend without you. Once we were in high school, everyone just knew if there was one of us, the other wasn't far behind. They knew if one of us was invited somewhere, so was the other one. We stuck together touching everyone's butts in the hallways, hosting movie nights, eating lunch together every single day and spending all of our free time together. When I get old I know exactly who to call if a need to paint a room or even my house.
They say you lose most of your friends when you graduate high school and I'm sure there are some people who doubted our friendship would last, but they don't know us very well. We picked colleges within driving distance of each other (45 minutes apart, to be exact) so we could spend any weekend together that we wanted to. This allows us to spend time together while we are away from home. Allows me to have my person driving distance away when something bad happens and I need to cry to her. We graduated 3 years ago and you're still my very best friend. I can't wait to watch you become a fancy cancer researcher and have your own family. I can't wait to be a part of that and for you to be a part of mine. I'm so thankful you've become part of my family, I'm thankful to be part of your family, I'm thankful for you and your friendship. I love you with my entire heart.
More importantly than anything I already said, thank you for being there for me the 8 months grandma was fighting the nasty C word. Thank you for always checking up on me and on her. For simply wishing her a happy birthday that put a big smile on her face. For coming to Florida with me and getting to spend time with that amazing woman. THANK YOU for being there during the calling hours, the funeral and the hard time I've been having since. You're an amazing human being and I can't be thankful or express my gratitude for you enough.
