A Thank You Letter To My College Best Friends

In life you meet people who change you and who you absolutely know will be by your side for the rest of your life. Before college you’re always told not to worry about the pettiness of your high school best friends because college is where you find your bridesmaids. I am the most blessed girl in America because I have you guys to be just that for me. Although I do still have my close friends from high school, you guys hold a special place in my heart. I just wanted to say thank you in case I don’t say it enough.

Thank you for figuring out adulting with me. We're old now. We have our own house now and bills and so much more responsibility than before. We mess up and don’t get it right most of the time, but we have each other. We might not have it all figured out whatsoever yet, but thank you for making attempting to figure it out so much fun.

Thank you for constantly building me back up. When I find myself in my hardest times, you guys are the ones holding me up. Even when I get myself into situations and I am completely at fault, you guys refuse to let me think of myself badly. You know just how to turn the situation and make me feel alright again.

Thank you for believing in me more than I believe in myself. You guys believe I deserve so much more than I am willing to accept. You guys demand respect for me when I refuse to demand it myself.

Thank you for following impulses with me. You guys are always just so willing to do the most impulsive and random things with me whenever I come up with an idea or just want to run away for a little.

Thank you for never judging me. I have never ever questioned if I should tell you about something or not. I always know that there is nothing in this life that I could do to make you guys look at me differently, which you constantly prove over and over again. I trust you more than you’ll ever know because of this.

Thank you for changing me. You guys have somehow calmed me down while keeping my wilder side very much alive. You have made me a more understanding and loving human being even though that hurts to admit. You guys have made me such a stronger, more confident person.

Finally, thank you for just being you. We are so different, yet scary alike. You guys do the unthinkable just to stand up for me. I have never met more loyal people in my life. You know how to cheer me up just by being you and us doing the littlest things.

I don’t know how to do life without you guys and the best part is that I don’t have to. You have become my family. I know you guys will be by my side and holding my hand on my hardest days and laughing and enjoying my best days with me too. So here’s to forever whether you like it or not.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
