Thank You To A Friend Who Made College Life Easier.

For all the laughs we have had and many more to come.

Thank You To A Friend Who Made College Life Easier.
Anna Tussing

To the friend that made things better,

Where do I even begin? A simple thank you is in hand. Without you, I would not be here. I would have left. You became my first friend here. How do you thank someone for that? So thank you for the fun memories, thank you for watching Netflix for me, thank you for always being there for me, and finally thank you so always being there.

You will run up to my room even if you have the slightest idea that something is wrong. You make sure that you always are available for me to talk. Even when you are at home you will still text me if I am here. You will always give me a hug even when I don’t think I need it you still give it to me. You are the “mom,” and for that I thank you!

You will always be willing to watch a show I want to watch, we get each other hooked on shows that the other would never be interested in at first. From "Bones," to "Full House" and so many in between, we always will make sure to encourage to try a new show. You are always down to watch movies. Considering how many movies we have I think that is a good thing.

Ice cream, and many other desserts, thanks for always being down to get desserts with me. What more could you ask from a best friend? I know that having you as my friend you will always recommend desert to try to make me happy. We always complain about cafe food, and so when we get dessert we are the happiest we can be! How much better could you get, I really and truly do not know.

Last but certainly not least, I want to thank you for being exactly like me. I never thought I would meet someone so crazy, funny, caring. We answer things at the same time, and we know exactly what the other person is thinking. How crazy? How could I have not met you before college? That is what I think is crazy, we just met yet you are so much like me it is crazy. I wish I would have met you a lot sooner than I did because I seriously don’t know how I lived without you.

It will be weird not sitting on the futon watching movies during the week, or just talking about our days at dinner every night, even though you know cafe food is not the greatest. However, I am so thankful that we will be rooming together next year. I can’t wait to see you this summer (which has to happen), and just have even more crazy memories. Then when next year comes along, we will keep having more memories, more laughs, and more happiness.

To my crazy friend, my first friend, and finally my best friend, thank you!

From, the person who could never thank you enough, and can’t wait for many more memories.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
