Attending Ole Miss I had no idea what to expect. I came to Ole Miss only having one friend, my roommate. I cried to go home almost every day for a month because I didn’t I was homesick. And most importantly I grew as a person.
Although I always said I wanted this semester to be over and that I wanted to drop out almost every day. I am very thankful for my first semester.
I am thankful that you taught me that I have to be more independent. Before I moved to college I relied on my parents to do everything for me.
Moving 900 miles away from my family was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I called home every single night asking if I could come out.
Thank you for convincing me to stay. The first month of college I begged my parents to come home every night. Thank you for convincing me to stay even when I didn’t want to.
Thank you for all the game days and The Grove. This was by far my favorite thing about Ole Miss! The school environment changes and everyone is hyped, until the Rebs leave the game during half time.
Thank you for showing me that it was okay to change majors. I came to Ole Miss having a clue what I wanted to do. I changed my mind 100 times, thank you for teaching me that it’s okay not to know what I want!
Thank you for giving me a home. When I joined a sorority I really didn’t know how much of an impact it would have on me. I never knew that I would want to spend 24/7 with girls who I barely knew, or that I would have a place to take a nap during class.
Thank you for giving me my family.
No, not my real family. My college family. These six girls mean the world to me. They are the girls who are there for me even when you are separated for six weeks and I have an emergency and need to talk to them.
Thank you for everything I learned… I learned a lot this semester. From how to cook Mac and Cheese in a microwave, or how to air up a tire on the middle of a deserted highway!
Although I constantly wish you would be over, I’m so glad that I was able to have the best first semester I could have. I can’t wait to see what second semester has in store for me.
XOXO, peace out home girl!
