To my beautiful mother,

Thank you. Thank you for being my best friend, thank you for showing me God’s love, thank you for laughing with me, crying with me, fighting with me, thank you for always knowing what to say when I can’t seem to find the right words, thank you for loving me.

Momma, you are the strongest woman that I know, you have a heart of pure gold, a smile that can light up any room, and an endless supply of love for me. From teaching me how to write my name, to teaching me how to apply for college, you have always been my number one girl and my go to.

Thank you for picking up the phone and giving me advice on all my silly problems. Thank you for not getting mad when I don’t always do what I should do, and thank you for always reminding me that you will always love me no matter what I do. I don’t thank you enough for what you do for me, for coming to all my soccer games, for dropping anything to help me when I’m in a pinch. Thank you for looking for any excuse for me to come home every weekend. Thank you for helping me pick out my clothes all the way to senior year. Thank you for teaching me that money doesn’t always bring happiness and that it’s better to be rich in love rather than rich in money with no love.

Now that I’m off at college, I still know that you are just a phone call away and no problem is too big for you to fix, you always say that we are your gifts from God, but truly you are the gift from God. So, thank you for picking up whenever I call you to talk about the Bachelor, thank you for FaceTiming me every chance you get, for sending me silly letters in the mail. Thank you for filling up my gas tank every time I come home, for texting me 24/7, and for calling just to talk about nothing.

But most of all, momma, thank you for sharing your love with me every single day. I pray that one day I will be half of the mother that you are.

Love,

Your grateful daughter

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

“I just want you to know that you’re very special… and the only reason I’m telling you is that I don’t know if anyone else ever has.”

As frustrating and annoying as it can be, being a girl is really awesome. We are beautiful inside and out. Not a lot of people may see that, but girls have a ton of amazing qualities.

We have unique flirting skills.

Us girls have a significant way to flirt with other people. Even when we say the most random or awkward things, we have a way of making everything sound cute and planned. It’s just a gift; we’re good like that.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
