12 Texts You Get From Mom
Me.Me

We have all seen them. Those hilarious auto-corrects and messages meant for someone else. Maybe you have even been a victim of them, I know I have! Makes me wince just thinking about some of them! My friends and I have spent hours just reading through them and getting stomach cramps from all the laughing. Well, this is a particularly interesting set. All texts from parents, some that you don’t wanna get, and some that are just laugh out loud hysterical. We all know that moms especially are a source of constant amusement and embarrassment, and they always seem to know just when to pop into our lives with a real gem. These priceless communications always seem to show up when your away and can't do anything about it! Enjoy these little mementos from home! I bet you can relate to at least a few of them…

1. Are You Sure They're Getting Through?

Just how can you be sure? Hmmm….

2. Be Careful What You Leave Behind.

Maybe she just missed her…lucky you! Either way, it’s a good bet that your mom should stay out of your closet.

3. Gotta Love a Valentine Thug...

Don't laugh too hard ladies, one day you too will discover this is a real thing!

4. Ahh, The Old Room.

I know this feeling! My parents were thrilled with their 'new den!'

5. Learning A Foreign Language.

She expresses herself pretty well for using a foreign language for the first time, doesn't she?

6. One Of Those D Words...

After 30 years you're finally going to…Disney?! And without me?

7. Funny Thing About Death.

I can imagine the confusion of all those poor relatives. Mine would be laughing out loud. Yup, we are THAT kind of family! (You know us, the ones snickering uncontrollably in the back of the church?)

8. Children Are A Parents Blessing.

You just never know what your parents really think, do you

9. Good Looking Out Mom...

Ahh moms! Always looking out for us aren't they? Grandchildren become a priority the minute we leave home. I think its empty nest syndrome…

10. Drugs!

I would love to have seen mom's face when she put that mint in her mouth, wouldn't you?! Priceless!

11. This Is So Awesome!

I love this message. It reminds me how wondrous technology really is and how much we take it for granted. Just think, it's all as new and exciting as a shiny, brand new iPhone to a mom!

12. Mmm, Strawberries?

I think we can all agree on this last one…gross about sums it up!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows.
