Everyone I know from Texas absolutely loves it. Recently, I visited the great state of Texas with one of my best friends from college. She invited me to come see her home and just hang out for the week. I was excited to see what all the hype was about. Let me tell you, Texas didn't disappoint! Here are observations about the Lone Star State from the view of an outsider.

1. Their weather is interesting, to say the least.

One day it was 70 and sunny, and then next it was 40 and windy as all get out. Pack a variety of things when you go.

2. Whataburger is king.

No one wants McDonald's with this yummy fast food chain around. At 11 p.m., they start serving the Honey Butter Chicken biscuit which is my fav!!

3. The roads and highways are massive and always under construction.

Thank goodness my friend was driving or I never would've gotten around. She let me know that Houston just loves to create construction zones.

4. Cowboy boots are not as common as you think.

Yes, i know we all dream of cowboy boots when we think of Texas. I tried to pack mine but was quickly stopped by my friend. Where we were, you didn't see hardly any walking around. Sigh, I really love my cowboy boots.

5. Their queso is yellow.

And so delicious!! I was very skeptical at first, but one bite made me a convert. Maybe my friend will ship me some because my white queso just isn't cutting it anymore. #teamyellowquesoforever

6. It really is metropolitan.

Or at least the area that we were in was. No tumbleweeds spotted here. Every store and restaurant you could ever imagine was 5 miles from us.

7. High school football is everything.

"Friday Night Lights" is real, guys! Everyone from the respective school shows up to cheer on their team. My best friend's team made it all the way to state, which is amazing considering some of the talent they go up against from other schools. *BTW this image is a real high school stadium in Texas. Just let that sink in.

8. The Texas accent is a lot different from mine.

I do admit I have a little bit of an accent. But the Texas twang is nothing like mine. Honestly it is in a league of its own and is not easily replicated.

9. The college rivalry is a big one.

Either Aggies or Longhorns, there is no in between. It's always interesting to see who says "Gig 'em" and who says "Hook 'em".

10. 'Texas forever' is a very true statement.

It's a place that'll make you feel at home and make you never want to leave. I am a huge fan of the Lone Star State now.

Counting down the days till my next visit!

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.
