Lately, I have been struggling with my skin. No, I don't have acne. No, it's not terrible, BUT for my own personal reasons, I have not been happy with the way my makeup has been settling on my face. I have been using the same foundation for months, if not years now, so that isn't the problem. I decided to change up my skincare routine (exfoliating, extra moisturizing, eye cream), but I wanted to do more to help my foundation lay better on my skin. So I came up with it; PRIMER! This is the layer of product on top of your skin and under your foundation. I have used Benefit POREfessional in the past, but it wasn't doing the trick. I also started testing BECCA backlight priming filter, and that was more of a glowy agent that I wanted to add to my foundation rather than directly to my skin.
So, I set out to Sephora for some advice. I didn't get much help, unfortunately, so I tested some on the back of my hand and decided to get samples to try out. And I wanted to take you guys for the ride! I took pictures, first, right after applying makeup, and then the second one is after about five hours of wear. I also included a close up of my cheek area. I was looking for a primer that would prevent my foundation from settling into my fine lines. Let's proceed to the results.
Note: I used the same face makeup for the three days: Loreal True match foundation and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

My results:
I prefer the Tarte primer. It is thick like a balm and filled in my pores and lines. It lasted throughout the night. Even though I was a little oily at the end of the night (I never touched up my makeup), I don't mind as long as my pores aren't popping out, and they weren't as bad with that one. The other primers just weren't as plumping. The Too-Faced was too much like a lotion and the MUFE Step 1 was not thick enough to last long.
Stay tuned for more testing chronnicles!
