New York City has many hidden secrets sprawled across the internet. How many do you know? Are you a REAL New Yorker??

1. NYC was the first capital of America (in 1789) – it only lasted one year though.

2. America purchased Manhattan from the Native Americans for what is equivalent to $1,000 USD nowadays.

3. Owning a hot dog stand near Central Park can cost about $300,000 a year.

4. 25% of the world's gold bars are at the Federal Reserve Bank on Wall Street.

5. Albert Einstein's eyes are locked in a safe somewhere in NYC.

6. The Empire State Building has its own zip code.

7. Farting in a church in NYC is a misdemeanor (by law).

8. Near the Flat Iron Building in NYC, there is a wind tunnel that can raise women's skirts. Men used to stand outside the building during the day to watch.

9. There are "fake" buildings throughout NYC that are used for subway maintenance and ventilation. To onlookers they look like regular NYC buildings, but inside they are gutted.

10. Times Square was named after the New York Times (it used to be called Longacre Square). It changed its name to Times Square when the New York Times moved its office there.

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
