Kits Uneverse

Anyone who knows me realizes that I detest horror movies and will vividly be haunted by even the creepiest of "Criminal Minds" episodes. Regardless, I happen to adore haunted attractions. I am sure almost everyone has heard of "Terror Behind the Walls" at the Eastern State Penitentiary but some of you may be too afraid to go or are unsure if it's worth the $20-$30 ticket price.

Facts You Need To Know

Before venturing out into Philly, you need to be aware of some haunted attracting logistics. "Terror Behind The Walls" does have a parking lot; however, space is limited and your ticket has a specific time slot for which you purchased it. Make sure you arrive in plenty of time to park and be at the gate during your time slot. It is also important to note that the penitentiary attraction has two experience options. If you "opt-in" for the full experience the actors and staff members are allowed to touch you, remove you from the group and add to your haunted thrill. If you opt-out, you are in the same group and pass through the same attractions, but the staff is not permitted to touch you.

Also, as with any coveted attraction, there are lines. Be sure to dress for the weather and to travel light. Some of the attractions are tight and bumping into walls or people is a very definite possibility. It is also not possible, to the best of my knowledge to choose what order you experience the six attractions. there is a set pathway that takes you through all of them.

Overall Review

Overall, I had an awesome time. I have been to several haunted attractions but now I can say that I have been to one of the most famous. The penitentiary was an interesting and spooky setting that added to the experience.

The attractions themselves were not as frightening as the website or YouTube videos made them seem. The individual haunted houses are about an average length for haunted houses and attractions and each feature exciting and different scare factors. What really sets "Terror Behind the Walls" apart is the professionalism and budget of the whole operations. Each and every staff member was amazingly transformed to fit the theme. No expense was spared on the decorations, sound effects, visual effects or makeup. The reality of the scares is exemplified by the attention to detail of the producers. The professional photo packages (yes you get to pose with a haunted actor), food and gift shop items are overpriced, but that was to be expected.

Would I Recommend?

I would recommend "Terror Behind the Walls" to someone who enjoys Halloween adventures and doesn't mind getting frightened. If you have any health issues that makes getting scared an issue, don't go. The choice to attend is personal, but it certainly is a great experience.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
