Winter break is approaching for college students far and wide. As we get home, weary from finals week, it becomes easy to curl up in bed with an open Netflix account and hibernate for the next month. However, once January comes, you may realize that this lazy break was completely counterproductive, and going back to school (meaning getting back to working hard) proves to be difficult after a month of doing absolutely nothing. So, I give you this list, which includes a few helpful tips on how to make the most of the upcoming break.
1. Read a Few Books for Fun
Now is the time to crack into those books you have been wanting to read, but just have not had the time to while classes were in session. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and sit down to enjoy a good read!
2. Go to the Gym
Take the time to go for a run or take a yoga class. This is a great way to de-stress after finals week, and may be an opportunity to make some new friends while you are away from college.
3. Catch Up With Friends
You may not have seen your high school friends since college began, so make sure to schedule some quality catch-up time.
4. Buy Gifts for Family and Friends
Give a thoughtful gift to a loved one for the holiday season. Tailor it to their personality and interests. They will be so thankful for it, and you will feel great. Gift-giving is always so fun!
5. Clean the House
Although it may seem tedious, you will be so glad you did this after your house is nice and clean.
6. Send Thank-You Letters
Make sure to thank your family and friends for the awesome gifts they gave you this holiday season. They will appreciate the formal "thanks!"
7. Make New Year's Resolutions
Set some goals to work on so that you have the happiest New Year yet!
8. Update the Resume
Whether you caught the red dot or got a rockin' internship since last semester, make sure to update the resume to include all of the awesome stuff you have been up to. Employers want to know!
9. Cook Something Different
Try a new recipe and host a dinner party - your friends will love trying your new dish.
10. Wake Up Early
Sleeping in on occasion is perfectly fine, but don't make a habit of it. Try to wake up at a decent hour - that way, you have more time to enjoy the day!
