10 Things You Can Do For Your Dog

"Why should I do more for my dog?" You might be asking. Because they're cute, and they deserve it. Give back to your best friend, companion, and side kick by showing them just how much you appreciate them. These 10 ideas are a great start!

1. Feed them snacks

Whether it's a pinch of peanut butter or cream cheese, a piece of lettuce, a frozen dog food filled kong, or good ol' treats, they'll be sure to eat it all and enjoy every second of it! Just make sure they get their exercise in.

2. Flea treatment

Protect your pooch from all the critters it comes in contact with outside, by keeping them up to date with their flee treatment. They don't want fleas just as much as you don't!

3. Give them massages

Massaging your dog will bring down their stress levels, as well as ease any muscle pain and aches.

4. Keep them groomed

Regularly brushing, bathing, and grooming your dog regularly, will help them maintain a healthy coat as well as help prevent skin irritations caused by dirty fur. By simply brushing your dog, you will rid them of any knots and fur mats. Not only will this keep your pup happy, but it will also prevent excessive shedding throughout your house and on furniture. Don't forget to brush their teeth and freshen their breath!

5. Owner-Pup bonding time

Set time out of your day to spend with your dog and give them your full attention. This could include paying fetch, walking them, going swimming, blowing bubbles for them to catch, etc.

6. Buy them toys/food puzzles

Surprise your dog by coming home with a new toy. If they like it, it could keep them busy for hours and they'll sure be happy.

7. Buy them a companion or best friend

Although getting another dog is a big responsibility and can be pricey, it sure might make your current dog happy and keep them from being lonely.

8. Arrange a puppy play date

This could include taking them to the dog park or bringing them to a friends or neighbors house to play with their dog. They deserve to some fun and freedom too!

9. Vitamins

Investing in vitamins for your pup will improve the quality of your pet's life by supplying daily natural supplements that are necessary for promoting their optimal health.

10. Bring them somewhere they've never been

Bike trails, hiking trails, the pet store, and/or a body of water, are all great places to bring your dog, if you haven't already. Allow them to explore and experience these environments.

" Dogs are not our whole life but they make our lives whole." Your dog is always there for you, and loves you unconditionally. It's time you give back.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
