10 Things I Want To Thank My Mother For

We take our mothers for granted, let me do our laundry, cook our dinner, and even clean our rooms. However, like most people, I often forget to thank my mother for all that she does for me. Even the little things.

1. Thank you for giving me life.

So many people forget that without their mothers, they would not have a life. We take that for granted more than we should.

2. Thank you for my little sister.

We fight and argue, but I do not know what I would do without the little brat. She is the best gift my mother could have ever given me.

3. Thank you for always being there.

There is not a moment in my life when I have needed her, that she has not been right there for me. Always.

4. Thank you for disciplining me.

i was not a bad child but I was disciplined when it was necessary, because of that, I have grown into a respectful adult.

5. Thank you for always pushing me to do better.

She knew when I was fooling around at school, or in life, and always made me do better. For that, I am grateful. Without that extra push, who knows where I would be.

6. Thank you for always being proud of me.

Even when I was not performing to the best of my ability, academically, my mama always told me how proud she was of me. Having a parent who is proud, made me strive to do that much better.

7. Thank you for saying "I told you so," when he broke my heart. Again.

No one wants to hear "i told you so," but it is true. She told me over and over that he was no good. Time after time I went back, and he kept proving her right. Mothers know best, y'all.

8. Thank you for loving me.

Just because your mother gave birth to you, does not mean that she absolutely has to love you, as terrible as that sounds. I am forever thankful for the unconditional love that my mother has shown me.

9. Thank you for always having faith in me.

She has always had faith in me, even when she probably should not have. Somehow my mama always knew that I would make the right decision in the long run.

10. Thank you for being my mama.

More than anything, thank you, God, for blessing me with the most wonderful mother a girl could ask for. We fight like sisters, but in all reality, my mama is the best friend I have ever had and I have no idea where I would be without her by my side.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
