Let's face it, Ohio can be a pretty boring place to live sometimes when all there seems to be is crazy unpredictable weather and cornfields. When you get into it however, there are some interesting places in Ohio that you most likely haven't explored yet! If you're like me and love trying new things and getting outside, at least one item on this list will appeal to you and be sure to take your summer to the next level.
Things for the Adventurers at Heart:
1. Hocking Hills State Park.
With multiple caves, waterfalls, trails and campgrounds, Hocking Hills in Logan, Ohio, is a great place to go just to go adventure for a day or to get away for a weekend trip.
2. Dundee Falls.
This picture may have been taken in the winter, but Dundee Falls in Dundee, Ohio, is just as amazing and fun during the summer months! If you're lucky you can even find a spot deep enough in the river to swim at!
3. Mohican State Park.
If you make the trip in Loudonville, Ohio, to Mohican you should definitely make it a point to stay at one of their many campgrounds, go canoeing or rafting down the river and definitely hike and explore around the covered bridge, which is in the picture above.
4. Yellow Springs.
This spot in Dayton, Ohio, is filled with hiking trails, waterfalls, campsites, and unique shops and restaurants to try out.
Things for the Artists at Heart:
1. Cleveland Museum of Art.
A great museum with plenty of art to see and explore, you could easily make this a day trip to create memories to take your summer to the next level!
2. Toledo Museum of Art.
Don't be turned away by the small size of this museum, as the inside is full of beautiful works of art that need to be seen!
3. Cincinnati Art Museum.
Another great museum to explore! You can sign up for a tour or just set aside some time to roam the museum on your own time. You can even take a break and grab a quick bite at the museum's small cafe.
Extra Things to Spice Up Your Summer:
1. West Side Market.
This is a must for anyone who lives near Cleveland at all (even for those who don't live near!) just to see all of the different cultural food items that are sold here. From weird meats and seafood, funky desserts, and more fruits and veggies than you could imagine, you could easily spend all afternoon in here.
2. Cedar Point Amusement Park.
For the adrenaline junkies out there, the roller coaster capital of the world in Sandusky, Ohio, is for you! With so many roller coasters to choose from here, you're bound to find your favorite!
3. Columbus Zoo.
Being one of the better zoos in Ohio--this is a must! The zoo recently announced the news of acquiring Amur tiger cubs, which is only another reason to go visit!
This is just a small list of things to do in Ohio, but when you really dig into it there are so many options to make your summer the best one yet! Who said Ohio was boring?
