Growing up I never knew how different it could be from living upstate or even in a different state. Before I transferred to Oneonta I went to a small school in New Hampshire, where everyone thought I had a funny accent, but the ten things I heard the most was..

1. “Oh you live IN long island?"

The amount of times I have gotten ask if I lived IN Long Island… No sweetie, I live ON long island

2. “Oh my friend X lives on Long Island do you know them?"

One thing you might not know is that the long island’s population has over 8 million people… Chances are I probably don’t know your friend sorry.

3. “Do you know the Long Island Medium?”

Yes Teresa Caputo and I go way back!! No No No, Yes I have heard of her and I think she is awesome but just because I live in the same island she does, doesn’t mean were best friends

4. “Are your bagels really that good?”

Cleary someone is in desperate need of a bacon egg and cheese real quick… actually make that two bacon egg and cheese’s please

5. “Why are the names of the towns so weird”

Massapequa, Mannhasset, Patchouge, Merrick, Ronkonkoma, Wantagh…. Most of them come from different names of Indian tribes that were living here in the early 1600’s

6. “Do you spend your summers in the Hamptons”

I understand that there is a lot of hype about the Hamptons, or the fact many famous people reside in the Hamptons over summer, But No I don’t go an hour out of my way just to get to a beach when there is one 2 minutes away from my house.

7. “Why do you guys always complain about long island traffic, it cant be that bad”

Have you every been on the L.I.E. or the Cross Island at 5-7pm on a weekday... didn’t think so.

8. “Did you really get hit hard by Sandy”

Well I mean I’m sure you might have lost power for a day or two, try 3 weeks no power and my friend had a boat on her front lawn…so nah not hit too hard!

9. “Everyone from Long Island is SO Italian”

WRONG! Not everyone is Italian yeah some people are, not all. I am 50 percent Russian and 50 percent Russian and I live in long island so no not EVERYONE is Italian

10. “You have an accent”

LAWN-GUY-LAND. But really you're the one with the accent :)

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
