10 Things About Girls That Boys Just Don't Understand
Borgen Magazine

Let's face it, there are just somethings about girls that completely baffle boys. Chances are, if you're a boy reading this article, you've come here in the hopes that there will be at least one or two points that you'll be able to relate to, or feel justified in thinking. Look no further! Because being a girl can be just so difficult to understand, I've compiled a list of the top ten things that boys just don't get.

1. Being afraid to walk home at night

Boys just don't understand what its like to walk home at night, clutching your purse to your chest with one hand and fisting your keys in the other, hoping that you have to use neither as a weapon.

2. Being told that something is "unladylike"

Don't you just love being told that your actions and character are boiled down to a cookie cutter that you must conform to or be shut out?

3. Watching what you wear

The amount of times that a girl changes outfits sure can be confusing, but don't worry, she's changing her outfit so that she doesn't "tempt" any men who might see her and get the wrong idea.

4. Being told that your standards are high

Funny how girls are always told to give boys a chance but its never the other way around.

5. Earning less money than your male coworkers

Don't worry, if a girl complains to you about how she doesn't earn the same amount as her male coworkers even though she's just as qualified, she'll be okay. It's not like women are charged the same amount of interest by corporations for use of their services as men. Oh, wait.

6. Being discouraged from scientific fields

You know that saying "women are good at art and men are good at science"? Who would have thought that that saying would actually effect the lives of real people? Women did.

7. Being told that you do anything 'like a girl'

If a girl is angry that you told her she does something 'like a girl', don't be concerned! You've only just thrown in her face that being female is considered something negative and undesirable by most societies and therefore questioned her value.

8. Being told that you don't smile enough

It's okay to be confused that something so simple can be misconstrued as a gendered notion, but how many times do you tell your male friends to smile more? Why is it the responsibility of your female acquaintances to smile no matter how they feel? Why are your offended that women are not allowed to display a variety of emotional states?

9. Having to jump through hoops to be treated like a person

If men bled from their vaginas and could get pregnant at the drop of a hat, birth control and sanitation goods would be free.

10. Being told that you hate men because you want equal rights

Because the desire for equality is such a shameful thing to want.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
