10 Recommended Allergen-Free Candy

The air is crisp, the leaves have changed, and the smell of pumpkin is around every corner. Halloween costumes have been on sale since late August. Now as October comes to an end the much-anticipated holiday approaches, be aware of curfews if choosing to go trick or treating. For those opting to hand out candy this year, make sure to know the kind of candy that is being handed out.

Since allergies are a regular occurrence, people should take caution when purchasing candy, trying to select candy that is free of common allergens. Here is a list that includes candies that do not contain gluten or the top eight allergens (wheat, milk, soy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish or shellfish). The candy listed is also most commonly available in bulk for this season’s festivities.

1. Skittles

2. Starburst

3. Dum Dums

4. Smarties

5. Jolly Rancher Hard Candy -- may contain soy lecithin in some flavors

6. Sour Patch Kids/Swedish Fish

7.Ring Pops

8. Sweet Tarts

9. Jelly Beans

10. Life Saver Gummies (except Jelly Bean Chocolate Dips, Cold Stone Chocolate Devotion, Cold Stone Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Pudding, and Dark Chocolate)

Be cautious of what you are consuming and do not eat anything without inspection. For further suggestions, be sure to check out the Sure Foods Living Guide. Have a fun and safe Halloween!
