Ten Reasons Why I love Halloween

There are numerous reasons why I love Halloween, however, there are ten reasons why it truly makes me so happy. Halloween is the epitome of hate for some people, but for some it is an absolute thrill. While it may have skulls and witches and all of the creepy goons and goblins representing its name, Halloween started from the Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts celebrated Halloween as the last day of the year, November 1 marked their new year. The Celts were located in the United Kingdom and northern France. This day marked the end of the summer sun, the harvest, beginning of the cold, and winter.

Halloween is such a thrill, I absolutely adore this time of year. I can go on and on about how much fun I have in the fall and how excited I get when Halloween decorations begin to be put out on display in Walmart and shopping stores.

1. The first reason why I love Halloween so much is because of the weather during the fall. I directly correlate the fall breeze to Halloween and I truly couldn't love the weather more than I do. There is nothing better than a cool breeze after a long, blazing hot summer.

2. I love my fall clothes, so I know when it's Halloween time that I can break out my skinny jeans, flannels, and lightweight jackets! I honestly have the cutest variety of clothing in the fall. I don't know why my summer clothes cannot compete but my fall wardrobe seriously kicks butt at how adorably cute it is.

3. I cannot stand the colors orange or purple but for some reason, I absolutely love that they are markers of the beginning of my most loved season! Whenever I see these colors, my eyes light up like a child in a candy store.

4. The candy is a super fun part! I used to steal half of my candy from my sister or brother because I look forward to so many children going trick or treating. Halloween is my kryptonite because I am a pure candy lover. I do not care if it is older candy or food, I will clear out the entire path.

5. I love to look at all of the crazy costumes people wear or create by themselves. Halloween is a time of the year where you can freely express what character you've wanted to be since you were a little girl. I also love when pet owners bring their dogs out with costumes on as well! The dogs are to die for when they are so cute and forced to smile as they are entirely uncomfortable with the crazy costume their owner has forced them to put on and leave on.

6. The pumpkin carving contests within my family and friends are unreal. One year I hand carved Scooby-Doo (my favorite character of all time) and glitter painted a pumpkin to create my favorite works at the time. My sister has a talent for making extravagant pumpkin carvings that I will never be able to do and that is okay because, at the end of the day, both of our pumpkins look awesome. While we do compete to see who has the coolest one, it is pure fun to unstuff a pumpkin and then make a piece of art out of rhine. Of course, pumpkin carving is a must if you have a significant other, and don't forget to take a cute picture when you have completely finished your jack-o-lantern!

7. Although I am a scaredy cat, I love to go to haunted houses because it is so much fun to hang out with friends and have a good time on a dark, breezy autumn night. There are so many different types of haunted houses to attend too. the options are endless. This is also another fun date night event to do during the perfect autumn weather. If you love haunted houses and like roller coasters, I used to go every year to Fright Fest for my birthday at Six Flags!

8. The decorations for Halloween are so neat! I love when people get creative and make their house look like a creepy emporium. These decorations truly show the skills of people and what gory, bloody monsters or just plain ole fun Halloween scares they are capable of! My favorite memories from childhood come from dressing up every year and going to visit our family friends and taking a picture with their giant spider they made out of huge bails of hay and spraypaint.

9. Halloween is a fun time for everyone, there are so many "trunk or treats" that churches host, late night hayrides, trick or treating, pumpkin patch runs, and many other events that take place. I love seeing the thrill of people putting together these grand events and the look on children's faces when they've had all of the candy and fun they can take for a day! Halloween brings families together, they dress up together and have a ball with their children. Adult Halloween parties are also super cool with smoking cauldron punch, spider webs left and right, strobe lights going off, and fog machines creating a dark, creepy effect for the festivities.

10. The last and final reason I love Halloween so much is because it is the day after my birthday! Halloween has always been so special to me because my parents have always had the neatest birthdays for me and my sister (whose birthday is also in October). They have gone above my expectations and had hayrides, pumpkin patches, costume parties, bonfires, and as I have gotten older, decorated family get togethers. When I look back many years, my special day of entering this earth has always been celebrated by Halloween festivities and this is the main reason it holds such a close place in my heart. I am so grateful to have been able to have the 19 years of super fun birthdays I have had so far and I cannot wait for many more!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
