If you've ever had a dog, it's pretty easy to see why they absolutely rock. As a dog lover, I thought I would highlight what makes dogs so all-around fantastic.

1. Dogs improve physical well-being.

Whether its the pure joy their presence provides you, or the fact that they're always down for a game of fetch, dogs improve the way you look, and the way you feel. Playing with your dog has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and increase feelings of relaxation and tranquility. If you're feeling down, play a game of tug-of-war with your furry friend, and you are guaranteed to feel better.

2. Humans with dogs recover more quickly from illnesses.

Forget a cup of chicken noodle soup, dogs are the best remedy for illness. Dogs have a special way of knowing when you're feeling down, and they do everything they can to make you feel better. Whether it's curling up next to you or giving you slobbery kisses, your dog will go out of their way to make sure you know you're loved.

3. There's never a dull moment.

Dogs are full of surprises, even when they're not always appreciated. Between stealing food off of the table, tearing stuffed animals to shreds, or tracking mud throughout the house, owning a dog means you're always on your toes. Despite some of their activities being more than unwelcome, those big brown eyes and wagging tails makes it easy to forgive them.

4. Dogs have horrible short-term memory.

Unlike humans, dogs forgive and forget, sometimes even in the same minute. Nothing feels worse than accidentally stepping on your dog's tail, but all is forgiven if you give them some love and their favorite treat.

5. They are the best listeners.

Alone time with your dog is like a free therapy session. It's a judgement free zone, and even when you spill your darkest secrets, your furry friend will love you no matter what you say.

6. They will never leave you hanging.

Dogs are always down to do something fun with their best friend... you! They will never change plans, blow you off, or make excuses for not hanging out with you. The best part of their day is spending time with their best bud.

7. Dogs are always excited to see you.

Nothing makes you feel more loved than opening the door to your house and seeing your dog there ready to greet you. After a long day at school or at work, seeing that ball of fur so excited to see you is the perfect remedy for any problem you have.

8. They always have your back.

Your dog will always be on your side, whether you're right or wrong. Your enemies are their enemies, and they will protect you from any evil trying to come your way. With a dog in the house, you are never alone.

9. They provide unconditional love.

No-one will ever love you as much as your dog does. They love without expecting any love in return; the most selfless love we will ever experience in our lifetime. Love your dog the way they deserve to be loved, and they will return it tenfold.

10. Dogs show you how to appreciate the little things in life.

We all have something to learn from dogs. They find happiness in little things, like hanging out with the people they love. Dogs allow us to disconnect from the world, from our problems and frustrations, and remind us what commitment and selflessness is all about.

The world would be a much better place if people treated each other the way dogs treat us. Acceptance and unconditional love.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
