Ten Reasons Why Dogs Are Amazing

Dogs are one of the few pets that can make you feel complete.

Ever since I was a child, I dreamt of being a dog owner. I wanted a puppy because I always found myself lonely since I am an only child. I wanted a companion. My dream of becoming a dog owner came true when I was in ninth grade and I have to say it has been the best six years of my life (and to many more to come). There are so many joys dogs bring into your life, but the most important one is the unconditional love.

1) Having someone always waiting for you at home. I absolutely love knowing I am not coming home to an empty house. To me the thought of coming home to an empty house is depressing, but knowing my furry pal is home waiting for me makes it all better.

2) Adorable cuddling sessions. I love how unplanned these cuddling sessions are. Usually my pup senses that I am not in the mood for writing a ten page essays and slowly nudges her cold nose into my hand and then magically flips over for a belly rub.

3) A warm furry body that keeps you warm during cold winter nights. My Toy Poodle is a little on the heavy side, but at the end of the day she still is a "Toy Poodle." Yet for some reason when it comes to sleeping with her she becomes a German Shepard who manages to take up the whole bed. At least her fur keeps me warm.

4) Your dog knowing something is wrong and showering you with unlimited kisses. I do not know how they know, but they know. They just look at you with their big eyes and get to healing your soul.

5) Cute selfies with your super photogenic dog. My dog's selfie game is on point. Only problem is that she's too furry and sometimes it is hard to find the face in comparison to the tail. (Still cute though).

6) Dogs teach you responsibilities. You know when you come home you need to go out for a walk with them. You know that you are their only source of survival so you better step your game up.

7) Having a persistent ball bringing buddy. Who needs the gym when you have to throw your dog the ball a million times?

8) UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ALL DAY EVERYDAY. It is so important to feel loved and our dogs never fail to show us that. We are their life.

9) Hearing a weird noise and the barking never ends. I am pretty sure my dog just loves the sound of her barks. In the middle of the night, she starts to bark, scares herself, and falls asleep. So I think that explains that.

10) The adorable tail wags. I love how you can tell what your dog is feeling based on the tail. If they are happy, that tail wag is never ending.

I would not be the same person I am today without my Lucy. She is an adorable dog, with a huge personality and I love her beyond words.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
