Most of us seem to hate being snowed in. We hate having to cancel plans, stay inside, and get all of the things that have been lingering on our to-do lists done. We hate being forced to relax and spend time with the people within the four walls of our cozy little homes. But why? We need the relaxation, the delays in our plans, and the time to take a deep breath in the safety of our homes. We're crazy for not loving snow days, and here's why:

1. Snow days mean not having to get ready for the day.

Have you ever woken up, knowing you had plans, and decided you just weren't going to get ready that day? I know I've wanted to. I just never have, unless it was a snow day. Snow days allow you to mope around without a full face of make-up on, and feel no shame about it because everyone around you is doing the same exact thing.

2. Pajamas, Pajamas, Pajamas

Snow days mean getting to stay in your jammies all day. Whether that means staying in flannel pajamas bottoms, or rocking your new Victoria's Secret set. Either way, you're always going to be undoubtedly comfortable because you're "stuck" with no plans, and lots of opportunity to be cozier than ever.

3. Cookies make a house, a home

Chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, or sugar, whatever you're craving, you are now able to bake them. Being snowed in allows a lot of spare time to do whatever you want to get done because you're forced to stay indoors. Baking cookies not only gives you a little treat to enjoy, but the warmth and aroma of them fills your home. Everyone you are stuck inside with can enjoy them as well.

4. It's always a good time for a movie marathon.

Think of those movies you've always wanted to watch, and rewatch them. You never got to see them because you've simply never had enough time. Now, because you're snowed in, you can. Snow days are perfect days to watch movie after movie, and feel absolutely no guilt in doing it.

5. It's forced relaxation.

Sometimes we fall victim to feeling guilty for relaxing. We don't often take enough time, or any time at all, for ourselves. Rest and relaxation is needed so that we can operate as the best version of ourselves.

6. All the things you weren't going to get done, are now done.

That means cooking, baking, doing homework, doing projects around the house, or even the loads of laundry that are piling up to the ceiling. It feels great to get things accomplished! Staying inside for an entire day may not be so bad after all.

7. One word...Naps

Do you ever feel so exhausted you feel you can never truly catch up on sleep? Well, most of us have and that's why there are snow days. Snow days are designed to leave us in our pajamas, curled up on the couch, watching our favorite movies, surrounded by our families, where we can joyfully doze off without a care in the world.

8. Getting to go out and play.

Whether it's snowballs, skiing, snowboarding, or sledding, getting to go outside in a winter wonderland is a treat. You don’t have to be a little kid to enjoy snow!

9. Feeling trapped is no longer a nervous feeling.

Knowing you have nowhere to go, nowhere to be, no way to get there, is no longer something to worry or fret over. You're not nervous about being late, forgetting something you needed, or getting things done by a certain time. Snow days allow you to take the time to embrace it. Snow days allow you to make the time yours, and that may be the most rewarding part of a little, or a lot, of snow on the ground.

10. There's peace in watching snowflakes fall.

When it's snowing, we all get to stop for a little while. We get to watch the flakes accumulate on the ground, in the grass, on the streets, and they lay, just like a blanket, on top of just about everything they touch. There's something so serene about the quietness of snow. It's unlike rain that pitter patters against your window, or sunshine that means a beach day, or driving with your windows down. Snow days mean baggy sweatshirts, cold noses, lots of fuzzy blankets, and spending some much needed time enjoying pure RELAXATION.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
