Ten Things To Do On Rainy Days

California hasn’t seen a rainy day in months, so when it rained this weekend I remembered how much I hate it. Rainy days are not enjoyable, especially when you have three classes to go to and have to stay on campus all day. Not to mention, the buses get uncomfortably foggy from all the steamy body heat, my hair collects itself into a frizzy mess, and my toes are cold and wet because I didn’t wear the right shoes.

But I besides that, I guess rainy days are alright. Just kidding, I really hate them unless I am staying indoors all day.

Here are ten indoor activities you can do to avoid going out into the cold, rainy sadness:

1. Skip your classes and spend your day doing self-care or catch up on assignment you’ve fallen behind on. I guess skipping class isn’t an t ideal solution but it’s better than the rain, amiright? Eh? Eh?

2. Learn how to make a new baked good. Be adventurous, and try out a nice zucchini bread or a cranberry loaf recipe that you’ve never tried before. And even if it doesn’t turn out how you wanted, you’ll still have a warm dessert to eat while you think how much rain sucks.

3. Stay in bed all day. This is what everyone wants to do on a rainy day, they just don’t admit it.

4. Find a good book and use it to prop up your laptop while you binge watch Netflix.

5. Start prepping a stew early in the morning and have it cook all day so you have a nice stew dinner at the end of the night. It seems labor intensive for something that is supposed to be a lazy-day activity, but some stews can literally be thrown in a pot and left to simmer. No other work required.

6. Collect all your warmest blankets and plush pillow and arrange them into nest shape on your bed. You now have a cozy nest to spend your day in.

7. Find your favorite candle and your favorite album and just kick back. Listening to music on in a dimly lit room can be so therapeutic and relaxing.

8. Listen to the sound of the rain. I find myself doing this on most rainy days, and I’ll admit it pretty relaxing.

9. Invite some friends over for a holiday movie night. Rainy days are the perfect time to kick off the holiday season, because in California rain is our winter’s equivalent of snow.

10. Brew yourself a cup of homemade hot chocolate. In fact, treat yourself and melt a whole bar of chocolate into that cup. You can blame it on the rain later.

I guess rainy days aren't the worst. Pretty close to it, though.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
