As we prepare for 2018, we must look back on the past year and the many ways we've grown individually and as a community. From the good, bad, and well let's not forget the crazy moments.

Here are the ten of the craziest moments of 2017, that we surely can't forget!

10. Unicorn Frappuccino.

From April 19-23, Starbucks released the Unicorn Frappuccino, a ridiculously sweet, rainbow-throw up drink that everyone wanted. Almost every Starbucks was sold out of it, and every sweet tooth was determined to get a taste of this crazy drink.

9. Apple becomes the first company to be worth more than $800 billion.

No matter what we say, technology is a huge part of today's life and this breakthrough is a testimony to that. If you own an Apple product, congrats! You just made Apple that much more wealthy! If only Steve Jobs could still be around to see this.

8. Beauty and the Beast was the #1 Blockbuster movie.

Does this really surprise us? I mean who doesn't love an Emma Watson movie, let alone her bringing a Disney classic to life. It's the perfect sing-along movie for the whole family!

7. Fidget Spinner Craze.

If you don't know what a fidget spinner is, then you must've been living under a rock. Although these weren't invented in 2017, they became the new biggest addiction. From glow-in-the-dark, to light up, and in every color, you could imagine, everyone could have their pick. Some schools even had to ban them because of how popular they were!

6. Tragic Hurricanes.

Although this isn't the happiest of moments, it was a crazy and definitely irrevocable event for our world. Hurricane Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria were four of the tragic hurricanes that brought devastation to so many this past year. My heart continues to go out to those affected as they continue to recover and I wish this year to be a year of recovery and restoration for the many that were affected.

5. Women's March.

The Women's March was a worldwide protest that was held on January 21, 2017, in protest to President Trump advocating for many human's rights and legislation, including but not limited to women's rights. In the United States alone, there were an estimated three to five million participants and about 500,000 people who came to march in Washington D.C. Whether you are a feminist or not, this was a significant moment in history and a true testament how issues are able to unite people, regardless of origin for a common purpose.

4. Solar Eclipse.

August 21, 2017. The day everyone wore those funky glasses. Well, kind of. On the 21st of August, the sun had 100% totality meaning the moon completely covered the sun, and we were able to witness that. Truly, a once in a lifetime opportunity.

3. JMU won the NCAA Championship and hold a 25 game winning streak.

James Madison University, the best school in the country with the best football team. Okay, maybe I am *little* bias, but I couldn't help but show a little school pride, bleeding the purple and gold for my JMU Dukes! In fact, on January 6, the Dukes will be facing off against North Dakota State University in Frisco, Texas for the NCAA Division I football championship. Who knows, maybe the Dukes will be making my list for 2018 too?!

2. ALS Treatment is Found

Remember when everyone was taking those hilarious videos of themselves dumping ice water on them? Maybe you even did it yourself? That was the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge which took place to raise awareness and money for a cure. Well, through the funds raised Israeli scientists at Ben-Gurion University have found a treatment to stop the increased activity of glial cells. I found this so encouraging and motivating in how even through the little things like freezing your butt off for a few seconds, can make a difference.

1. Trump is inaugurated.

Trump's election was one of the most controversial elections in history, through the polarizing view of his presidency. No matter what your political views are, an inauguration of any president is a crazy experience, as we are reminded how fortunate we are to be able to have a democracy and have a voice.

2017, was a whirlwind and quite the year to look back on. Here's to making some more crazy memories in the year to come! 2018, we're ready for you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
