There are times when we all need to cry a little, to get our ignored and restrained emotions out in the open. That’s why I made this list of movies that will definitely make you cry for various reasons. This list is also useful if you don’t ever want to cry watching a movie. Sounds like you? Then consider avoiding these movies. So let’s start our journey to emotional destruction, shall we?
10. Akeelah and the Bee (2006)
There is something in those pursuit-of-success stories that brings up the tears. Nothing is as worthy of those tears of joy as a little girl competing in a Spelling Bee contest and fighting for her future.
9. Love Actually (2003)
Once again if you easily break into tears because of sentimental moments, this movie will get you. It has Christmas, children falling in love, lots of people in the airport (what can be more sentimental than airports?), and relationship drama of all kinds. I watch it every year around Christmas time, and it never gets old.
8. The Notebook (2004)
If you never saw the Notebook, go and buy/stream it RIGHT NOW. You don’t know how much you are losing. Nicholas Sparks might be not such a good writer but his books definitely make perfect movies. This one will make you cry thinking about life and true love. You may also cry because you didn’t get such Noah Calhoun (who is played by amazing Ryan Gosling) in your life.
7. The Four Feathers (2002)
I don’t know what makes me sadder, when I watch this movie, all the hardships of war and loneliness that the main character, Harry Faversham goes through, or the fact that he is played by one of my favorite actors, late Heath Ledger.
6/5. One Day (2011)
This is an emotional story of change, betrayal, and fate. A beautiful movie that I would love to watch again, but I don’t because crying is not fun.
6/5. Cruel Intentions (1999)
I just couldn’t decide which one of these two movies would make you cry more. You just have to watch both of them and let me know.
4. A Walk to Remember (2002)
Another Nicholas Sparks creation, this movie was the original The Fault in Our Stars. Yes, you guessed it right, there will be a dying teenager involved. Time to get an extra box of tissues.
3. P.S. I Love You (2007)
This movie is just cruel! It is so good that I keep coming back to it again and again, and I still cry every time I watch it. That’s a very unhealthy behavior, I know.
2. Stepmom (1998)
I haven’t watched this one since I was little but I still remember how sad that story is. If this title doesn’t ring a bell, you should definitely check it out.
