Eighteen years gone by in a flash

In 18 years a lot has changed. People have come and go. New trends. Bigger and better ideas. Also, I'm officially an adult. Crazy to think about. I'm allowed to vote (what a big whoop), I can join the armed forces, I can get a tattoo without my mom having to sign for me! 18 years is a long time, though. I've been through a lot. Most of it is the reason behind who I am today.

1. Family is important

I don't know where I would be without my main support system. The people who keep me sane. The only people who 100% understand me.

2. Friends are just as important

My close friends are the reason I enjoy school. They've been there when I was at my lowest and they are there to laugh with me when things go haywire.

3. Laugh whenever you can

You need to laugh. Laughter is contagous. Upset? Laugh. Mad? Laugh.

4. It's okay to cry

No one, not even yourself can expect to hold in all your emotions. Sometimes things are just too much. Crying isn't bad. It doesn't make you weak.

5. You don't have to conform

Being yourself is the greatest thing you could be. Trying to fit in, isn't necessary because there will be people who love you for who you are.

6. Nobody is perfect

People will try to hurt you by telling you that you aren't good enough. You are smart enough, beautiful enough, smart enough to do whatever the hell you want. You own it.

7. Sleep is important

Sleep is perfection. You can just relax and let your body recover.

8. Music can get you through anything

Music is the one thing that can block everything out. Music eases the mind. Music tip: Follow the music with your body so you can fully appreciate it.

9. Take time for yourself

It's easy to get lost in what you're doing in your daily life. It's easy to let life just run the show. Sometimes you need to lay in bed, go for a run, eat some Ben and Jerry's and just relax. Pop on some Netflix and chill out.

10. Things will not come easily

The things you desperately want will not magically appear. You need to work for the things that mean the most to you. Things come to those who wait.

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
