Summer is nearing in Alabama, and with summer comes ample time to have fun and visit places all around our state. Here I have compiled a list of ten things to do around Alabama, whether it be visiting the coast, or anything in-between.
1. USS Alabama
The USS Alabama is located in Mobile Bay and is available to be toured.
2. US Space and Rocket Center
The Space and Rocket Center is located in Huntsville and is full of rich history about America's space exploration.
3. McWane Science Center
The McWane Science Center is located in Birmingham, and fun for all ages. Whether you go and view an IMAX movie or play the mind boggling games that they have-- it is sure to be an enjoyable time.
4. The Birmingham Zoo
This zoo is located in Birmingham, and has all of the animals you can think up. My favorite happens to be the monkeys-- they're so lively and playful!
5. Gulf State Park
This is just one of the beautiful sights you will see if you visit this state park located in Gulf Shores. I mean, what's better than the beach?
6. Rattlesnake Saloon
This is located in Tuscumbia, and is one of the coolest places I have ever been! This restaurant is located in a bluff in the side of a mountain, and serves some of the best onion rings I have ever tasted.
7. Cherokee Rock Village
Cherokee Rock Village is located in Centre, and has one of the best views in Alabama. You can see for miles on top of these rocks, and there are many trails that the avid hiker can enjoy.
8. Helen Keller's Birthplace
If you love history, I know you would love visiting Helen Keller's birthplace. For a small price you can go inside the home and the cottage beside the home. You will receive a tour of the house and learn all about Helen's life. Her home is located in Tuscumbia, and is about twenty minutes from the Rattlesnake Saloon.
9. Cheaha State Park
This is a view from Bald Rock in Cheaha State Park. The park is located in a place named Delta, but is very close to Heflin. Cheaha Mountain is part of the Talladega National Forest.
10. Little River Canyon
Little River Canyon is located in Mentone, and has some of prettiest sights in the state. There are a myriad of waterfalls and hiking trails that anyone can enjoy.
