10 Costumes You're Guaranteed To See On Every College Campus

It is that time of year again. This week will be spent watching Halloween movies, eating candy, deciding last-minute costumes and drinking (cider)...unless you're 21, of course! While everyone is putting the last-minute touches and thoughts into costumes, here are 10 costumes that you are guaranteed to see on every college campus this year!

1. Drunk 1 and Drunk 2

This was very clever at one point in time...

2. Frat Boys

Yes my friends and I are guilty of this one...

3. A Cat

The world still wonders why a lot of girls are this for Halloween. Yes it is simple, but we could get a little more creative?

4. Danny and Sandy

"Grease" is a classic; however, this costume is not.

5. "Minions"

Don't get me wrong...I do love "Minions."

6. Bud Lightyear/Buzzed Lightyear

Okay this one does make me laugh...

7. Mickey and Minnie

There will be at least one guy whose girlfriend forced him to dress as her Mickey...

8. Any occupation with the word "sexy" in front of it.

Seriously... You'll see pretty much a slutty form of any occupation.

9. Sailor

Especially since I attend Grand Valley State where we are the Lakers...

10. Last but not least, there is always at least one of these guys at the party...

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

1. For all of the endless hugs and kisses you always seem to smother me in.

2. For teaching me how to cuddle and being the best cuddle buddy still to this day.

3. For teaching me some of the best "mom dance moves"

4. For pushing through all of the sleepless nights and still being super mom.

5. For not killing me every time you found me cutting my own bangs.

6. For showing me all the classics and helping me develop a good taste in movies.

7. And for watching the ridiculous reality TV shows with me because no one else will.

8. For helping me with all of that awful homework that even you couldn't understand.

9 For giving us a taste of our own medicine when we needed it.

10. For setting my curfew at a reasonable hour to ensure I didn't get into any mischief. (I was still able to accomplish a little mayhem though)

11. For spoiling me as a little girl but making me do chores as I got older. I now understand the point of having a clean house.

12. For being the best host to all of the weird friends I would bring over.

13. And for standing up for me when those weird friends stabbed me in the back.

14. For listening when I needed to vent and always giving the best advice possible.

15. For being the absolute best cook. No arguments there.

16. For answering every single phone call and the millions of questions that I always have.

17. For letting me form my own identity and encouraging me along the way.

18. For going on shopping dates with me and always telling me your honest opinion.

19. For rolling the windows down and singing along to the music with me.

20. And for being the best mom possible. I love you!

I wish I had my mom.
