One of the best feelings in the world is finding music that makes your feet move uncontrollably, your hips move to the beat and good vibrations run through your veins. If you love pop and more underground electronic/disco music, these songs will be right up your alley. I find all of my favorite jams on SoundCloud, a social platform where artists all over the world share their music and directly connect with their fans and fellow artists. I might not claim that these remixes are all better than their original songs, but I admire and enjoy how are their own unique track, demonstrating the style of the artist.

1. Rehab by Amy Winehouse (Tom Misch Remix)

If you love jazz, definitely give this tune a try. It’s a mellowed version of Amy Winehouse’s original hit, with hints of funk and electronic. The bass line in this song has a clean and raw quality which is unique compared to most other remixes. It stands on its own as a smooth remix and also fits great for those background tunes when you are holding a chill party with friends.

2. Stay With Me by Sam Smith (Throttle Remix)

This remix is one of my all time favorites. We all know “Stay With Me” — a slow, powerful ballad with Sam Smith’s signature smooth vocals. Throttle, an up and coming DJ from Australia, spins it into a tune almost unrecognizable. This is what defines the best remixes — when artists can take a song and restructure the sound to be completely their own. Listen to it yourself and tell me what you think:

3. 3005 Pt. I & II by Childish Gambino (Zanski Remix)

4. One Last Time by Ariana Grande (Zanski Remix)

The next two remixes were created by Canadian DJ, Zanski. The center piece of “3005 Pt. I & II” by Childish Gambino is a killer funky bass line, and the song is embellished by many different parts which seamlessly blend together. I love the electronic xylophone that is featured throughout Zanski’s remix of “One Last Time”. Zanski really makes this song his own, and I think it has a much fuller and funkier sound which distinguishes it from the original.

5. Chains by Nick Jonas (Just a Gent Remix)

Just A Gent is an Australian DJ who has achieved great success on SoundCloud. I absolutely love this remix — I’m not much of a bass drop kind of gal, but the drop in this remix is awesome.

6. Happy by Pharrell Williams (Lenno Remix)

The song that took the world by storm — as “Happy” gained attention, a flood of remixes were created. This one is definitely my favorite. This Finnish DJ adds a great spin of funk and nu-disco to the song (my two favorite genres). The guitar solo in the middle is also a plus.

7. Bug A Boo by Destiny’s Child (Borneland Remix)

This song will get your feet moving no matter where you are. The bass line is killer, and of course the vocals of Destiny’s Child are on point. This remix was the first release of the Danish duo Borneland, and landed them the award of “Best Remix” at the 2015 Danish Deejay Awards. I absolutely love this tune, and I hope y’all do too.

8. Let Me Love You by Mario (LeMarquis Remix)

LeMarquis is one of my favorite artists, and his remix of this 2000s hit gives it a modern electronic/disco spin. I love its synthy sound, and Mario’s vocals are silky smooth. If you like this remix, I suggest you check out LeMarquis’s short original tune “True Life” — a great nu-disco tune you wouldn’t want to miss.

9. Best Friend by Foster the People (Dim Sum remix)

This is one of my all time favorite songs (not just remixes). A funky synth holds it together, as well as the slickest bass line (I’m sure all of you have already noticed a trend here). 1:04 is where my the song changes from smooth to great, and 1:21 is where the song changes from great to out of this world. Listen to it and then share it to all of your friends. It will change your lives.

10. Random Access Memories by Daft Punk (Vanderway Edit)

I close off this list with a mix of Daft Punk’s album Random Access Memories. Its chill yet funky and melds all of the different song into one smooth track. I love the keyboard, and my favorite part of the song is the remix of Get Lucky at 3:10. I hope y’all liked this list. No matter what mood I’m in or how my life is going, music makes me happy. I hope music does the same for you, and this list brightened your day a little.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
