The Ten Best Christmas Movies of All Time

If you don't listen to Michael Bublé’s Holiday Station on Pandora for a month straight, eat a disgusting amount of the Pillsbury Snowman cookies or watch a concerning number of Christmas movies, is it really Christmas? Technically, yes, if you're a Scrooge who sucks the fun out of everything. But to me, it just really isn't the holidays until I watch Elf for the 600th time. In conclusion, Christmas movies are one of the finer things in life, and if you want to fully immerse yourself into this year’s holiday season, I suggest you binge watch them immediately. Here’s a list of the 10 best Christmas movies of all time.

10. The Nightmare Before Christmas

To be completely honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Tim Burton movies, mostly because they scare the crap out of me. But this one is a classic.

9. Rudolf The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Words cannot describe the joy I feel when I see little Rudolf lighting up the night with his very shiny nose. The Abominable Snowman, Yukon Cornelius and the whole squad of misfit toys are certainly a force to be reckoned with.

8. Home Alone

Nothing's better than watching a young Macaulay Culkin in his element, wreaking havoc throughout his empty house. If your favorite part of this movie isn't when Marv gets an iron straight to the face, I don't think I can truly trust you.

7. It's A Wonderful Life

If you haven't seen this oldie, I suggest you stop whatever you're doing (especially if it's studying for finals) and watch it. You won't be disappointed. Also you will definitely cry.

6. The Polar Express

Even though this movie makes me depressed that I wasn't one of the lucky elite invited onto the luxury train that is the Polar Express, I still love it.

5. The Santa Clause

This includes all of The Santa Clause movies, however many there may be .... It's just impossible to not love watching a morbidly obese Tim Allen getting himself into all sorts of Christmas shenanigans.

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

If you're trying to kill 40 minutes whilst simultaneously preparing yourself for December 25th, I suggest you watch this movie.

3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carrey Version)

In my completely unprofessional but super relevant opinion, the newest version of The Grinch is simply one of the best movies ever made. Watching a very hairy Jim Carrey rob the young Whos in Whoville of their Jing Tinglers and Flu Floopers is about as entertaining as it gets.

2. Elf

Elf is easily the most quotable Christmas movie of all time. Which, often times, gets to be unbearably annoying. However, "Buddy The Elf, Whats Your Favorite Color?" quotes instantly become acceptable during the month of December. If you say you don't love this movie, you are clearly sitting on a throne of lies.

1. A Christmas Story

Without a doubt, this movie defines Christmas. There is nothing more classic than watching Ralphie's younger brother waddle his way to school or Scut Farkus being an absolute menace in his raccoon hat. You'll shoot your eye out, kid.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
