The sound of a heart ending,
It aches and breaks apart too,
Ripped apart and begins to blue,
I feel the holes, I feel it mending,
Drip, drop of the crimson blood that oozes from my heart,
When will my heart begin? I want it to start,
It was dead for a long time,
Until you came along — I wanted you mine,
The thumps and rapid beats of my heart went,
It never ceased, never bent,
You didn’t know until just now,
I wanted to speak it, say it out loud,
Louder than the speed of light,
Faster than the ticking of a grandfather clock,
Bright like the sun setting on the dock,
I’d sit there with you,
And let you hear my heart roar,
A roar so loud the butterflies escape my stomach.
Do you hear that?
It’s the sound of my heart beginning.
Beginning its ending notes as the trickle of liquid spilled down his mouth,
The words he spoke were not truly his,
What was this?
What demon came and took possession of him?
I stared into the cold dark eyes,
They looked back at me with no sympathy,
It was almost as if he had died.
My soul died that day,
For I am sure he devoured it whole,
The Devil's temptation had taken over him,
And there was nothing I could do but watch the Devil win.
