What are your political views? In today’s age, all of us are asked that question and yet we all have different opinions on this matter. Are you Democratic? Are you a Republican? Are you Independent? Then, there are some people who don’t even bother with politics. This presidential race, in 2016, has caused more publicity and uproar than ever before. Donald Trump is the Republican nominee and Hilary Clinton is the Democratic nominee. These two have skeletons in their closets and the media is exposing them.
Hillary Clinton, who was a first lady, was the secretary of state while Obama was in office. Donald Trump, is a business man and millionaire. People watch these debates and politicians on T.V--it is like a reality show. You got to love Clinton with her emails and Trump with his wife’s latest plagiarized speech. Clinton’s husband also had an affair with his secretary and Trump has had several marriages. Who are you going to believe? Are we in high school again, or is this a presidential race? They are making both these people out to be disastrous and incapable of running our country. Let’s get back to the real issues, that we have been focusing on. What about our education system and common core? Then, the Obama care: that supposedly is going to end and a new healthcare will be implemented? All the war effort and monies spent by our country. And my personal favorite the illegal immigrants and to this day, there are still hundreds of undocumented illegal immigrants that live within our country.
I am not trying to sway you, one way, or the other. Do your homework. Read the tax plans of each candidate. Trump's tax plan is interesting because he bases the tax rate you will be charged, based on your income. Rates start: 0 percent, 10 percent, 20 percent, 25 percent. The top rates apply to income over 150,000 for single filers and 300,000 for joint filers. Clinton's tax plan is different and her plan is to add a 4 percent surtax to income over 5 million. What about the wall that Trump wants to build against the illegal immigrants? Look at the pope, he has a wall that protects him in the Vatican. The bottom line, is we want our country to be number one again. All across the board: education, jobs, economics, healthcare, exporting and manufacturing everything. We need a radical change and any change is going to scare you but it is what our country needs.
I think it is a right and privilege to be able to vote. Your votes do count and make an impact on the outcome of who will become president. I know there is debate to whether our vote actually counts, because of the electoral college. Once our votes are cast, they get sent to the electoral college and as long as the majority of them don’t vote for the other candidate. Get educated on politics and see what each candidate stands for. I voted for the first time in the primary’s and it felt good to participate. Remember, this person is going to be our country’s leader, for the next four or eight years. Your children and their children will be impacted by whomever this leader is.
I look back at the presidents that have been in office during my lifetime. There was Bill Clinton, George Bush and then Obama. These presidents all have something in common: they did more talking than actually making changes. I remember the recession we had in 2008, which was similar to The Great Depression. Many businesses nearly went bankrupt and some actually did. We are still in trillions of debt to China and it only keeps increasing. We have an unemployment rate of 4 percent, which is better than some countries, but we can do better as a nation. It’s time we stop helping other countries and focus on our own. “Let’s make America Great Again,” this was first said by Ronald Reagan and now by Donald Trump. The question isn’t if it’s a male or female, but who will run our country more effectively?
