Sometimes it can be hard to admit to yourself when a friend isn't good to you. When you have true friendships though, you are genuinely happy. Below are 10 signs of a genuine friendship that can help you distinguish between real and fake friends.

1. They are willing to help you in times of need 

Real friends will drop whatever they're doing to help you in a time of need. They're always there for you when you are going through a hard time.

2. Instead of getting jealous, they congratulate you on your successes 

Good friends are happy for you when you succeed. They don't get jealous or try to discredit what you've accomplished, because if you're happy, they're happy.

3. They are patient with you 

Real friends don't snap at you, or get mad at you easily. They have patience for you and are understanding.

4. They don't just contact you when they need something 

The best kind of friends actually enjoy your company. They don't just hit you up when they need something from you. They actually like spending time with you.

5. They give without expecting anything in return 

Real friends are generous. They give without expecting anything in return from you. They give you their time and effort just because they care about you.

6. They never belittle you 

A true friend never makes you feel small. They don't talk down upon you. Instead, they encourage you and lift you up.

7. They support you endlessly 

The best kind of friends always have your back. Even through the hard times, they continue to support you and love you.

8. They don't highlight your insecurities 

A real friend never brings up your insecurities. They know what things bother you and they would never make you feel bad about yourself.

9. They make you feel welcomed 

Good friends make you feel apart of the group. They make you feel like you have a place. They want you to feel welcomed and have a good time.

10. They want what's best for you 

Most importantly, good friends want what is best for you. They want to see you happy. They want to see you succeed. Real friends love you and want only good things for you.
