Do you ever get so wrapped up in a movie universe that makes you eager for more content just like it? If so, do I have the fix for you. Here are movies from each decade beginning with the 1960's that could share the same fictional universe with beloved television shows.
60s: The Twilight Zone → Black Mirror
Here's one for the stoner culture. If you love the odd comedy brought to you by the show Freaks and Geeks that's set in 1980 then you should know that Dazed and Confused, based in 1975, isn't a far cry from the show. Slater would obviously hang with Daniel, Nick and Kim's dysfunctional "pothead" (in the words of the Weir parents) crew. Sam, Neil, and Bill are oh so reminiscent Tony, Mike and Cynthia because everybody needs a trio who are bright, but don't quite fit in unless the moment's convenient. As for Lindsay? Well, she'd be Pink for sure or at least be cool with him. I mean they both hop from group to group and seem on good terms with everyone. In conclusion, in a world of Rock n Roll and High School burnouts, these dazed freaks and confused geeks are apart of the same universe.
80s: Stranger Things → Super 8
NBC's hit show, Friday Night Lights, about a Texas football town seems like a continuation of the world Varsity Blue's characters Mox and Lance live in. You'd think that these Texan teens obsessed with football, who constantly deal with familial problems, and scholarship opportunities would be distant family members. Texas may be big, but these two universes don't seem far apart whatsoever.
10s: The Walking Dead → Train to Busan
To end this grimly these two obviously exist in the similar universes (those of the lawless land where zombies run amok). Although these creatures run about differently and have different strengths and weaknesses it's evident that all of the remaining humans have a common goal...survival. Both series are action packed and full of twists. Lets just hope that this actually doesn't become a world of the present.
