Originally, technology was created as a form of communication, and then it advanced to be something bigger and better. At least that's what it had appeared to look like. As years followed, computers had become the next largest thing on the market, and magazines were slowly beginning to go extinct. It never occurred to anyone that technology and the Internet would both take a turn for the future. This has been a negative turn on not just our minds, but also our physical bodies. Growing up, some only were "lucky" enough to have the typewriter, then it slowly became the computer, then shortly after that there was the invention of the iPad. Now, at first these inventions were merely created for the use of communication through emails and searching the web for a quick aid in studying, but now the internet is used for practically everything. If there is a friend you'd like to speak to, you as a person can easily go and drive five minutes to their house, but even so, people use their phones and computers even if they're in the same buildings. Technology and computers have become more addicting than cigarettes. There are people who will sit on their phones and do absolutely nothing for hours or even entire days, replacing the exercise needed to maintain one's health, causing strain on the eyes, and possibly even death. Believe it or not, technology plays a huge role in people's lives, Thousands of people have likely died due to long hours of video gaming or several other technologically-based incidences, such as texting and driving or walking while staring at a cell phone. It's getting very unfortunate how people are relying everything on their phones for everything that they can do themselves. From when I too was a young child, there were many d iverse types of technology, but not as many as they have today and also not so frequently used like in 2016. Nowadays, more than half of teenagers are found on their phones texting their friends or others while you sit here reading this article.
It seems as if there’s not much else that can be done since technology will always be around us. In fact, technology will get increasingly stronger and better as time continues its path to the "Walking Dead." If maybe, just maybe, there is a chance to aid society in this whirlwind of technological chaos, and there was a way to let others communicate freely through vocal communication rather than the technology that is disrupting our lives, perhaps we could truly see a change.LifestyleSep 01, 2016
Technology Is Ruining Our Lives
The problem with the Internet is that it doesn't just stop there.
