With the running game being such an important factor in a NFL team's success, it makes sense why many teams are not winning big games, or why they're unable to win many games. The running back while it may be the easiest to replace, is still one of the most important positions and below are five teams that need a superstar running back to boost their team to the promise land.
Kansas City Chiefs
Yes, the Kansas City Chiefs made it to the AFC Championship last year, but did you notice how they lost. At the beginning of the season the Chiefs had Kareem Hunt, a superstar running back to help their team, but after his little incident they cut him, and while Damien Williams had filled in admirably, Williams is still only a backup, and if the Chiefs had a superstar running back, they would definitely be in the Superbowl.
Philadelphia Eagles
Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles both have expiring contracts this year and last year the Eagles struggled mightily in the running game. In their Superbowl winning year in 2018 they had a sound rushing attack as well as a formidable passing attack. If they ever want to achieve that again they need a dynamic rusher.
Oakland Raiders
With Marshawn Lynch becoming another year older, it's time for the Raiders to move on. They need a Le'veon Bell sort of running back for this offense as they haven't had a star since Bo Jackson. The Raiders are far off from winning, but obtaining a star running back will help them greatly.
New York Jets
The Jets have a good QB, and decent receivers, now all they need is a good running back. The Jets have some major cap space and also are releasing Isaiah Crowell soon. Now all they need is Le'veon Bell and they'll still be behind the Patriots in the AFC East.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers had arguably the worst run game in the NFL last year. They have no star running back, they don't even have a decent running back on the roster. Ronald Jones was a major bust and Peyton Barber didn't make much of an impact. With Bruce Arians running the ship now, the Bucs should look to the draft get a difference maker in running back.
