The CW's "Jane The Virgin" is one of the network's best shows of all time. The characters, the relationships, and the drama are all exceptional. "Jane The Virgin" fans just cannot get enough of the show or their favorite characters. For most, the character who fans cannot get enough of is Michael Cordero Jr., played by Brett Dier. If you are #TeamMichael, which every fan should be (sorry Rafael), here are 12 reasons why Michael Cordero is the best.
1. He's tall, dark (well, he has dark hair), and handsome.
He's basically Prince Charming already, just by his good looks alone.
2. He risks his job (and his life) to protect Jane, her son, her mother, her grandmother, and her father without blinking an eye.
When Jane's son is kidnapped right after she gives birth to him, Michael knows what he has to do to get that baby back. He does what's necessary, even though it sets him back from discovering vital information for the major case he is working on.
3. Not only is he a fan favorite, but he's a character favorite.
He's Rogelio's clear favorite, he's Xiomara's favorite, and he's Alba's favorite (whether she admits it or not). Rogelio loves Michael almost as much as Jane loves Michael -- maybe even more than she does. Clearly Jane's father knows best.
4. He was not happy with Jane's accidental artificial insemination with Rafael's baby.
But Michael was willing to still love Jane and work through his jealous feelings throughout the process. Well, until Jane chose Rafael over Michael.
5. And even then, when Jane chose Rafael over Michael, he didn't give up hope.
Michael still cared about Jane and did whatever she needed, whenever she needed it. He called in favors and protected her.
6. He looks great with a baby that isn't "biologically" his.
Imagine how great he'll look when he and Jane have their own babies one day! I know, that's not how TV shows work, but hey, Brett Dier (and Michael) would have beautiful babies. Just throwing that out there.
7. He has admirable "masculine" qualities like strength and bravery.
But he also embraces desirable qualities like sensitivity and patience. He'll even (hesitantly) get the occasional pedicure with his future father-in-law, too. I love Michael's sensitivity. I love how he's not afraid to shed a tear or comfort Jane. I also love that he doesn't rush Jane into doing anything she's not comfortable doing. He knows what her values are, and he respects them. Can I get my own personal Michael?
8. Eventually, he is chosen over Rafael (what took Jane so long?) and the couple picks up right where they left off.
They even get their priorities straight: they get back to watching their favorite TV series' episodes together. #Goals.
9. And with the relationship back on, and a wedding on the way, Michael stands up for his fiancée.
He doesn't let his parents' unease about the marriage hold him back from being with Jane.
10. He's willing to quit his job if it will make Jane (and Rafael) feel safer.
Michael will do anything for Jane. So what I'm wondering is, if Jane and Michael don't work out, can Jane set me up with Michael? Yes? Great!
11. He knows that it is important to Jane to not sleep with someone until she's married.
Hence the show's title, and he respects and honors that. This isn't something that you see very often (as shown by Jane's fling with her ex-graduate school advisor).
12. He is not the rich guy; he doesn't want to buy Jane's love.
He works for her trust. He learns from his mistakes. He does all he can to keep Jane and her son (Mateo) safe. His parents might not fully support Jane and Michael's wedding, but at least they're not drug lords or murders like Rafael's family. #Oops #SorryNotSorry.
You've all heard the phrase, "May the best man win." In the end, it is clear that Michael is the better choice. I'm team Michael, and you should be too.
