To The Team I Coached

To the Awesome Team I Coached,

Coaching is such an incredible experience. Statistics show that a coach can touch students’ lives in one season more than any other adult figure. This blows my mind, but after spending a season with all of you I can see why. I spend so much time with you guys, but one thing I learned is you guys impact me just as much. Even though I am older than you guys, you teach me so many incredible things.

I could never imagine coaching anyone else. From the practices where you guys were great to the ones where there was very little productivity, it made us into who we are. We laughed, we cried, and we sang. For sure, driving all 16 of you around was one crazy experience. From hearing you all “sing” and dance on the bus to celebrating with ice cream after a win, It was priceless.

I could not imagine starting my summer of any other way than with you 16 girls. You are all incredible women and players and I hope that I have instilled that in you. As you all move on and grow up remember that this sport is just a game, but it can change your life. It can form you into who you are and give you the best memories of your lives. I look back on my sports memories constantly and now you guys are a permanent memory.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for forgiving me for my mistakes. Thank you for pushing and becoming a better team. Thank you for the best season I could have ever imagined.

I love every single one of you. I am a coach, but I am also a friend. Remember that no matter what happens I will always care for you and always care about you. Stick with it, don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not good enough. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, just do YOUR best. Thank you and I love you all.

-Coach

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
