22 Things Only Teachers Will Understand

22 things that only teachers will understand...

1. Checking the moon phase calendar to be prepared for that next full moon.

2. Reacting like this when someone comments that teaching is an easy job:

3. Relying sorely on coffee and never having enough.

4. Nothing is quite like just starting a lesson and hearing the pencil sharpener go off. Why hasn't somebody invented a pencil that doesn't have to be sharpened or re-filled yet?

5. Being able to walk into a store and instantly spot “Teacher Clothes.”

6. Students friending you on Facebook.

7. Never being able to pass by the dollar section in Target.

8. Feeling the need to OVER explain everything to everyone.

9.How hard it is not to laugh when a student says something hilarious but completely inappropriate.

10. Living life constantly trying to avoid sickness.

11. Just when you finally think you are done with your day you are reminded of the mandatory faculty meeting.

12. When kids tap your back to get your attention.

13. Being able to relate to this:

14. Getting the urge to redirect misbehaving kids while you are out in public and then realizing it.

15. When students ask if we did anything while they were gone.

16. The crazy amount of excitement and satisfaction that you receive when your students finally do something correctly.

17. Having a mind that is like a internet browser with 1, 234 tabs open all at once.

18. Still continuing to count down from 5 in hopes that your class will be quiet, even though you know they won’t.

19. Knowing this kid:

20. Being able to remember the names of 333 former students, but not where you left your copies.

21. Crying on the last day of school, not only because you will miss your kids but because you finally have time to sleep, eat, and breathe until next school year.

22. Having those moments with your students that make every second of teaching worth it.
