Have you ever had a teacher/professor who just didn’t teach? Or never tried to help if you needed it?Then this article is for you.
I currently am dealing with a teacher who does not know how to teach, does not help any students, and gives very vague directions. I have thought many times about standing up for myself and my education, but I have to remember that this said teacher is the authority so I can’t disrespect them without reprimands.
What’s best to do in this situation??? Well in my personal experience it is best to seek help from others who have a better relationship with the teacher than you or to seek help from other teachers especially if this teacher is hostile and rude to you. I find myself going to the bathroom or my locker at least once a class because I get so frustrated.
If you are constantly feeling inferior or put down by this teacher try to remember your worth and don’t let this teacher knock you down because you are more than just one unhelpful, ignorant, and downright unpleasant person who has chosen teaching as a profession.
I constantly feel awful after leaving this specific class and just am fatigued mentally and emotionally for the rest of the day. Know you are not alone and there are ways to feel better and do better. For example, you could give yourself rewards during the class like candy or snacks, if it's allowed of course. This would train your negative connotation of this teacher and class to change and possibly help you get through this hellhole easier than before.
While you may feel that you have no control and are not empowered know that this class will end and you life will continue on and this teacher will still be crappy but you will not be. This class and this teacher’s opinion of you does not define you.
This may seem to attack teachers, that is not the intent by any means I have had wonderful teachers who have been great role models in my life. However, I have had my fair share of vulgar teachers who 1. Probably shouldn’t be teaching and 2. Give other teachers a bad rap.
Teachers/Professors like this exist everywhere you go it's inevitable for you to have one so remember your worth and get through the class because you and I both know you are a strong intellectual individual with much more willpower than a miserable, crabby teacher.
