Teachers have to grade assignments. Sometimes, they grade them on students’ papers or the computer. I think it is better and safer for teachers to grade assignments on the computer.
One reason why teachers should grade assignments on the computer is to not waste paper. Teachers do not have to go through the trouble of copying papers or fixing the printer. Publishing or uploading an assignment on the computer is quicker and easier than copying papers. It also saves them from taking a walk to the copy room or printer room, especially if it is far away from their classrooms.
Another reason why teachers should grade assignments on the computer is that teachers can copy and paste the answers into their comments. If they do not want to correct all the students’ work, then they can provide the answer key and have students check it out when they are at home or in class. If they are correcting students’ work on paper, then they have to mark which question they got wrong. This can take a long time. Copying and pasting answers into their comments will make the grading go faster.
The biggest reason why teachers should grade assignments on the computer is that they will not get germs from students. When teachers grade students’ papers, the germs will go on their hands. Some students’ hands might be dirty. Some students might be sick. Teachers must wash their hands and sanitize their desks or work tables and computers to ensure that they do not get sick. As teachers grade students’ papers, it is challenging for them to not touch their faces. If teachers grade on their computers, then they can touch their faces. However, they have to make sure that their computer and hands are clean at first.
All of these reasons show that teachers should consider how convenient it is to grade assignments on the computer.
